AM4 Socket and Old Hyper 212 Evo
So I found a Ryzen 5 1500X, 8GB DDR4 and an MSI Tomahawk B350 board for $140 on FB Marketplace, but the listing doesn't show or mention a CPU cooler. My PC currently has an i5 4590 on the LGA 1150 socket with a Hyper 212 Evo that I built in 2015. Could I still put the Evo on an AM4 motherboard or would it not mount properly with the included parts? The Hyper 212 Evo that I bought was compatible with both Intel and AMD motherboards when I bought it.

It should, but if it doesn't then the 212's AMD bracket doesn't support AM4 because it's an older bracket.

Thank you. Hyper 212s aren't expensive by any means so if I have to spend an extra $20-25 it won't be a huge deal.

The 1500X should come with a stock cooler, and it's relatively decent and comparable to a 212 EVO anyway.

Yes, but the listing I found was for used parts, and a CPU cooler wasn't shown nor spoke of in the listing.

Considering the 1500X comes with a cooler, one would assume it does have the stock cooler included as there's no point for a seller to keep the cooler... and it would devalue the bundle if they did that. So ask.

Or just get a better cooler, such as:
Arctic freezer 34 series
But yes, for hyper 213 you must get an am4 bracket for to fit.

Afaik there's some kind of adapter to make 212 suitable for AM4. "Upgrade kit" they call it, right?

Hmm yea it's just a bracket

you could buy the 212 am4 upgrade kit a while ago, but not anymore
https://store.coolermaster.com/us/amd-am4-upgrade-kit-rr-am4b-h212-s1

the kits go on ebay for around $15-25
but at that price you might as well get a new 212 for the extra fan, cooler and all of the brackets

edit, found it on eu store for €5+s/h
https://www.cmstore.eu/spare-parts/hyper-212-evo-accessories-pack-new-version-with-am4-but-no-socket-775/

Kinda expensive for second hand CPU+mobo, especially considering you are planning to throw in another $20 for a cooler.
For $200 one can probably get a brand new Ryzen 2600 and a MSI B450 mortar motherboard, much better deal.

So I asked the guy with the listing and he said the stock cooler is included. He also has a 1060 for $75, though it's a 3GB card. Might see if I can get both anyway since a 1060 for $75 is a good deal even if it's a 3GB card.

1060 3g for $75 is a good deal
its not as good as the 6g, but still stronger than a 1050ti

Funnily enough, I'm using a 1050ti right now. I used to have an RX 480, however I traded my brother the 480 for a Nintendo Switch and then got the 1050ti as a gift from my mom.
