Recommended CPU upgrade
Hi there.

I just wondering what would be the best upgrade for CPU would be for the following
Power Supply: Corsair TX 650w PSU
- CPU: AMD Bulldozer FX-4 Quad Core 4100 3.60GHz Processor
- Motherboard: AMD 760G Chipset (AM3+) Motherboard
- RAM: Patriot Viper 3 "Red Venom" 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
- Hard Drives: 1TB HDD
- Graphics Card: Sapphire HD 7850
- Sound: 7.1 Channel Sound (On-Board)
- Optical Drive: OcUK 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black)
- CPU Cooler: Stock AMD Cooler.

I know that some CPU's are not compatible with the MB listed above. Was just wondering what's recommended? My latest game was Wolfenstein: The New Order, and it was slightly taxing for my PC so I'm thinking of upgrading to support future games wihich require higher processing.

Thanks for reading

P.s. I had also posted this thread on Help and Suggestions before I found this one but I can't locate it to delete it. So in case anyone finds it, I apologise, I have intention of spamming.

what mobo?
http://www.overclock.net/t/946407/amd-motherboards-vrm-info-database

760 chipeset was designed for aii/pii cpus and will run fx at nerfed spec

best cpu for it would be a pii 1100t or pii 955/965 (if it can take a 125w cpu safely)
http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/135/AMD_FX-Series_FX-4100_vs_AMD_Phenom_II_X4_965_%28125W__non-BE%29.html
(965 is clocked lower and 13% faster per core, and 31% faster overall)

if its not good for 125w cpus, there is no amd upgrade worth it
get a new cpu/mobo

that board has a 95w cpu limit

look into spending around $200-300 for a good upgrade

last generation Haswell

latest generation Devil's Canyon

Both are not for overclocking

for overclocking

Since you currently have micro-ATX motherboard I used micro-ATX boards in here to be sure your case can fit them.

I had your same CPU about a year ago. Found myself in the same boat. I upgraded to an FX-8350, has 8 cores clocked at 4.0 GHz. Does very well in games that support multithreading. You wont be needing to pick up a new motherboard either.

edit: sorry wasn't paying attention to the above comments. 95w limit... bummer.
