New i7 for Z87 Board and SLI 760GTX upgrade
As the title states, I am looking to upgrade my CPU/Motherboard Combo.

Currently.

Intel Core i5-4670K Haswell Quad-Core 3.4GHz LGA 1150
ASUS MAXIMUS VI GENE LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
MSI 660GTX in SLI
Moving to:

Intel Core i7-4790K Haswell Quad-Core 4.0GHz LGA 1150
or
Intel Core i7-4770K Haswell Quad-Core 3.5GHz LGA 1150

I have a two evga 760GTX that I have not used as they were 'step-ups' from 560GTXs, and I got two 660GTXs, while awaiting the step up.

I have a backup board, ASUS MAXIMUS VI HERO LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

At the Cost of $350 +/-, would I be looking at great improvement?? moving from i5 to i7 and from 660 to 760?

Thanks ahead of time.

Not really worth it, just swap your GTX 660 cards to GTX 760 cards. Compared to K-version i5 the i7 is not much of a improvement for pure gaming.
i7 is useful when you also do some video or photo editing but just for gaming the gain is not much.

Thanks for your quick and straight forward reply. Maybe I will get it when the price comes down below $300, $275 or less, just to have an i7. It just occurred to me that the 760GTX have 1-6pin and 1-8pin, my PSU has only 2-6pins, one for each 660GTX. Thanks again, I will take it under advisement. I have a antec 850 that may work, just have to make the time to change it out.

I had an i5 before (purely for gaming) and later swapped it for my i7 3770 because I was doing a lot of video editing, and I did see a great improvement there. But when it comes to gaming, I see no improvement at all. I have a GTX 760 2GB and I am getting a second one to pair it in SLI with the first one. So yeah, as suggested, just grab a better GPU, you won't see a big difference with an i7 compared to your i5.

Simply put: upgrading from that I5 to that I7 is a complete waste of money. You will not get 1 single FPS more. As for the GPU choice there is not much between two 660s and two 760s. You're better off using 1 single better card than two lesser cards as one card will produce less noise, heat, and draw less current and hence use less power.

I would just stick with the current Board + CPU and upgrade to SLI 770 4GBs or a GTX 780. In all honesty, the i7 is not going to aid you that much.

And if u can wait a month or two for NVIDIA 800 series, might be good idea. Even if u don't end up buying that series, the prices will be dropping on the 700 series. 600 series are a waste unless u already have those, don't bother.

EDIT:
Since u seem to already have the 660s and 760s on-hand, SLI 760s is the obvious choice. Ditch the 660s or put them to use elsewhere. Your Board+CPU are already decent enough. I'd suggest wait for the next Chipset and/or CPU Series/Socket before upgrading that. Maybe wait til X99 & DDR4 are here fully and there are more of them to choose from.
