Steelseries Sensei vs. Rival

So I'm looking to get a new mouse (currently using a ♥♥♥♥♥♥-ass Corsair Raptor m30) and I've read reviews on both mice but I'm still not sure about which one to get. I've read that because the sensei is a laser mouse it gets a little acceleration but I'm not sure if that will matter too much...

Any advice? Should I get rival or sensei..

i have same problem with you. i hard to decide which mice i will choose sensei or rival. when i asked steelseries about their product, the answer that rival is their best mice they ever had

Other great gaming options are: Logitech G500 series or Razer DeathAdder series. Either of them I would highly recommend coupled with a Razer Goliathus (Speed or Control - depending on gaming style) mouse pad. Excellent palm mice, with everything you need and nothing you don't, which will last you at least 8 years+ of prolonged 24/7 hardcore gaming.

The G500 (what I personally use) is VERY similar in shape to the MX518 (almost identical in shape in fact) - which is great for old school gamers. The Logitech MX518 was seriously one of the best. G500 is a lazer recreation of that optical mouse.

Then there's another version of it called G500s. Basically a carbon copy of the G500 but with a higher quality laser and a less exciting paint job.

G502 is yet another recreation - hopefully not too far off. People love these previous mices and therefore they attempt to remake them better.

The difference between the G500s and G502 is very noticeable with the G502 being much smoother and precise for micro movements.

12,000 DPI is however marketing hype and not required. It would only be good for using art applications on large 4K (UltraHD) monitors for example, then you still probably wouldn't max all that DPI out. This much higher DPI, you will not need for FPS gaming - but can always turn down anyways. It basically just shows it can be extremely accurate.

I haven't personally used the G502, but believe it's gone back to it's optical roots. I also believe it's smaller width, ideal for claw grip players, but can still be used as a comfortable palm grip. The thumb grip might just get in the way a little, depending on the person.

The G500, G500s and the G502 have slightly different adjustable weights. Suggest adjusting to your liking - for example: 4.5g in middle, surrounded by 1.7g weights in the cartridge. It should be quick and easy to move around, but reduced/minimum picking up lift. This will give you more control/speed. You normally use it as slightly heavy feeling mouse.

I would suggest trying it out for comfort of your own hand - store boxes are normally open with plastic over so you can at least feel the shape/size. It would be quite a good pick and might be a quality upgraded version. Perhaps someone who actually owns it can give you some better feedback about it.

I currently have a Logitech G502. It would be absolutely fabulous, however:

Its an MMO mouse, has lots of buttons.. this isnt a complaint.

Mouse feet can get scratched easily.

Mouse feet could peel, mine have, and its super annoying..

BUT MOST OF ALL:


Playing CSGO, a lot of the time the sensor spazzes up and aims in weird places, its really annoying me, I'm looking for a new mouse right now..

I had a G502 until i recently smashed it against my wall and broke it into tiny peices.

my anger problems aside, its a good mouse. i was a huge logitech fanboy and bought everything logitech, g430, g502, g510s, i even bought a chinese 1m logitech mouepad just to make it all logitech.

the G502 is a good mouse. great mouse. the sensor whizzing is due to hairs getting caught unde the sensor guard, just make sure your area is clean. the mouse is heavier than say a RAT or even a G402, and with added weights it can get quite heavy. i hated the weight system as i could not find a way to balance it for ME. its a smaller narrower mouse, so people with large hands probably wont like it. im currently gunning to get a rival and switch my setup compeltely to steelseries if its relevant- also, best buy usually has a bunch of mice and keyboards on sale you can see and feel. i go there to check out new hardware before bying it on NCIX or newegg.

oh, and back to the original question- Id get a rival over sensei. i REEALLLLY like the sensei's shape, and i love the tracking of a laser sensor BUT: i hate acceleration with a passion. i can feel the smallest acceleration and it bothers me to no end; that is what is keeping me from buying a sensei and getting a rival.

still waiting for the day when laser mice dont have any integral acceleration
