if you erred by formatting your boot drive, you'll have more headaches than obama.
this scenario will not happen if you use other brand hdd as the software is locked to work only for seagate branded hdd (including maxtor as seagate also owns the brand)
windows also likes to hide empty drives
if you have your own windows 7/8.x installer (dvd/usb installer) and legit key (not missing/lost/misplaced), then you can start from scratch and wipe everything.
formatting whole drives (all its partitions) result in data loss. any data not backed up is gone.
windows OS will now need to be re-installed and all your programs.
steam game client needs to be reinstalled.
steam games can be restored if the games are previously backed up.
an *.iso file will be created and must be burned to blank disk as *.iso
boot from the bootable cd to format any seagate (and maxtor) hard disk drive.
left pane, storage -> disk management
right pane bottom half is physical drives
top half is partitions
make sure the new drive is listed on the bottom
and it can be initialized/partitioned/formatted if it is seen
you can also pick on the partition and open/explore it to view its files
Yes, thats what I ordered. It even says so on the HDD.

I've already tried that. :| didnt work.
at the beep/bios mobo splash screen hit del
look for drive settings, and see if it shows both hdds and the cd/dvd drive
