When I got my PC, I ordered this 2 TB HDD and had a 1 TB HDD that I took out from a $400 PC I got from BestBuy.
When the 2 TB HDD came in, its capacity listed on screen was 16 GB. And then the 1 TB HDD had the regular size it was supposed to. Its still listed as 16 GB. Anyone know how I could possibly fix this? At the time I didnt know how Neweggs return policy works. Now I do, because I had to return a headset. But 6 months later. :P So it's a bit late to ask for a return.

That's where you start ^ if you dig around you might find a toll free number. When I dealt with Seagate they where fairly helpful.
Thanks.

when using seagate discwizard for windows, be sure to select the new seagate drive to format.
if you erred by formatting your boot drive, you'll have more headaches than obama.

this scenario will not happen if you use other brand hdd as the software is locked to work only for seagate branded hdd (including maxtor as seagate also owns the brand)

but your boot drive contains your windows operating system?

if you have your own windows 7/8.x installer (dvd/usb installer) and legit key (not missing/lost/misplaced), then you can start from scratch and wipe everything.

formatting whole drives (all its partitions) result in data loss. any data not backed up is gone.
windows OS will now need to be re-installed and all your programs.
steam game client needs to be reinstalled.
steam games can be restored if the games are previously backed up.

if windows is running off the boot drive, it will not let you format the boot drive

seagate discwizard for windows has an option of creating a bootable seagate disc wizard edition.
an *.iso file will be created and must be burned to blank disk as *.iso
boot from the bootable cd to format any seagate (and maxtor) hard disk drive.

I have 2 HDDs. My 1 TB HDD is the one that runs windows on it. The 2 TB HDD has nothing important on it.

start -> right click on computer -> manage

left pane, storage -> disk management
right pane bottom half is physical drives
top half is partitions

make sure the new drive is listed on the bottom
and it can be initialized/partitioned/formatted if it is seen

you can also pick on the partition and open/explore it to view its files
