Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro resolution

I have a Yoga 2 Pro laptop running Win 8.1. While not the most powerful gaming machine, it works great for me. The only problem I am having, is that lately some games (portal 2, mini ninjas) have been starting, the screen flickers a few times, and the game minimizes to the taskbar. If I lower my screen resolution in windows, the games will run. Other games like Just Cause 2 will start fine, but run slow at full resolution, so I tried to set the resolution lower in the game settings, but then it does the flicker and minimize thing. Anyone else see something similar or have any ideas?
