Disk usage 95-100%
I have a disk usage between 95 and 100% when i run games like CSGO and games with minimum requirements like that. I have tried to google all the solutions, like removing antivirus programs, closing windows search for updates and proposals like that. I have even tried to replace the harddisk. Nohting helps.

A friend of mine sugested, that it might be because of a defect motherboard, but before I buy a new one, I'd like to know if some of you have had a similar problem or even know the solution.

Please, anything that could solve this would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

ehh..

i suppose thats possible, but generally if it were the case youd be having more problems than a spike in HDD usage..

Could easily be the RAM or HDD itself
RAM and the HDD work together due to the pagefile..

What you can try is
Disable the Pagefile and reboot

Test the PC under normal usage with it disabled and see if you have the same problem
Afterwords you can re enable the pagefile and have it automatically manage as it should.

Disabling and Re enabling it will reset it, which if the problem is caused by that in some form or another should resolve it.

Using the PC with the pagefile temporarily disabled wont have any negative effects.

Disable pagefil didn't do the trick either... After i rebooted if went straight to 100% when it started updating Steam...

Possible yes, a faulty south bridge can do that or wherever sata controller is, if you have OS on another drive then it might still be an infection.

Well the disk usage is normal if its doing something, like updating steam for example.

Are you sure you're reading the disk usage correctly?

The light on the case that shows HDD usage, is it constantly lit/flashing? right now for example?

I'm not sure of how i can read the disk usage wrong.. It's very unstable and sensitive.. If i run anything i will reach 95-100%.

Regarding the light, I'm not sure what you mean.. I have taken a picture of the inside: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6lobnpsws7fj7vg/2016-10-12%2018.45.14.jpg?dl=0

There is a green light on the bottom, which is shown in the picture. That is constantly lit. Otherwise I don't know you mean....

PS. I know it's messy, sorry..

He means the HDD led outside your case near power button.

Sorry if I'm being a useless scrub, but i see nothing on the outside near the power bottom on my case.. :/

There should be an HDD activity light some where on or near the front of the Case when the HDD is being accessed.

Maybe that case doesnt have 1 or you dont have it hooked up.. dunno..

But if the HDD is spiked right now and constantly doing it can you take a picture of the usage in the Task Manager?

Took this picture a while ago, but nothing has changed since.. Obviously it's in Danish, let me know if you need anything translated

Okay well.. the Antimalware Service exe has to do with Windows Defender, unless you have something to take over the job of Win Defender you should always turn off its Realtime scanning so it wont cause issues, it does re enable itself after some time though. i believe youve said before that it was turned off, but in that pic its enabled

What happens if you just let the PC sit for a while? does usage stay at 100 or does it gradually lower itself?

I've tried to sit for a while a few times.. It depends on a some things, if it has reached 100% because of launched a game, it freezes completely, and i have to hit the power bottom.
If it's because i update a game on steam for example, it lowers again after i'm done.
If it's there when i boot the pc, which it is most of the time, it lowers itself after some time, but then can't run any programs, even the small ones.
And sometimes i can run programs like CSGO, and it hits 90% when loading a map, but then lowers itself and i can play normally..

Make sure Win Defenders realtime scanner is turned off
You can also install a program such as iobits Malware Fighter to take over which will fully disable Windows Defender and has less of a resource impact.

What you are describing is Normal HDD usage when loading a game or a map and so forth.
And if Windows Defender is enabled it can increase disk usage because its scanning files as they are loaded by the game or anything else you open.

Windows Defender has been turned off since i got this problem. I'm using Norton Antivirus, and i know a take a lot a disk usage, but that shouldn't cause it to be +90%.

If I for example play Football Manager, and run a file which is pretty big for that games standard, i slowly reaches 100% and freezes. But it's only if it's a specific file... Don't know if that's helpful

If it were actually disabled the Anti malware process wouldnt be active, Win Defender is what that process belongs to, Not Norton.

Does Norton have a Realtime scanner? been years since ive used them
