GTX 1050? and 1060 total watts
im just wondering whats the total power this gpu's pulling out i dont own 1 but im not 2 sure if i need 2 replace my psu i dont overclock. other then that i might just stick with buying 950

About 120 watts for the GTX 1050 give or take. (Average draw is much less).

And about 150 watts peak for the GTX 1060 I believe.

Wattage depends on the GPU and its brand
While the 1060 generally has a max wattage of 120, some Factory overclocked models and ones with higher power phases can go as high as 160w.

So if you go with a normal version of the 1060 it'll only be 120w, which as long as you have a PSU thats Atleast 400w you'll be fine. The 1050 should have a some what lesser wattage, but again it depends on the GPU and any modifications done to it.

According to what im seeing about the GTX 1050 variants, they'll only be 75w, if thats true then all it needs is power from the PCI-E slot, not a secondary PCI-E power connector.

Mind listing the rest of your parts? If you can do that for me, I let you know right know if you need to upgrade the PSU or not. Because 550w is pretty good, since you only want the GTX 1050 or GTX 1060.

MSI motherboard cant remember the name
4x 2gig of kingston ram ddr3
1x 5400rpm hardrive also cant remember what brand
3x fans inc cpu fan
1DVD-R
thats about it pretty much without the gpu itself

120 watts? that's going to run your electrical bill very high. i am only going use a 65 watt laptop and it runs most all my gaming needs. Playstation 4 uses 130-150 OR 137 watts W. most people do not even need a gaming computer with specs that high for most games out there now. but they may have updated wattage for PS4 slim.
Wii U uses only 34 Watts
PS4, should run at around 98.64 Watts

So about all that with added fans, keyboard, mouse, etc... I say about 350w to 400w you be using with GPU GTX 1060 added. So the corsair VS550 will just be perfect for you, unless you plan to two way SLI, then you might want to go for 650w, but if you only need one GPU, you be perfectly fine with the 550w.

If you feel like you want to upgrade the PSU, that's up to you, if you're gonna do that, then I recommend 650w - 750w, this way you're PSU gear for the GTX 1070, 1080, or two way SLI 1060 / 1070 / 1080. *Keep in mind, SLI need to be same card, such as 1060 to 1060.*

My PlayStation 1 uses 10 W :D
PS3 Super Slim uses under 190 W
And my PC uses max 350 W (X5670, GTX 960)

the 1050 ti seems 2 have more cudas but less base and boost the 1050 has better base boost but less cudas will the cudas in a gpu affect how well it performs?

Yes, but it also depends how good the game was made/optimize, and as well how well it can use the hardware. You see few more FPS with the Ti version, but it might cost about $25 - $60 more than it's counter part, so makes you wonder was that few FPS worth the extra cost? TBH, if you can afforrd the 1060, I say go for that if you want the best gaming experience for 1080p 60+ FPS, high/max settings.

the Ti is the better choice because its 4GB
2GB is becoming more of a bottleneck on modern games
