Is it harmful to unlock framerates?
Some modders say that it consumes power more often and damage the components, is it true?

No, as long as your hardware stays under their max temperatures.

There is no posible damage that could result from that.

Yes, more power will be consumed, but the amount of power consumed depends upon how much your GPU is working overall, rather than framerate itself(basically, a newer game at 20 fps could make your graphics card consume the same amount of power as an older game at 400 fps).

No, an unlocked frame rate does not damage anything.

GPUs are designed to run at full usage. If you have an issue running your GPU at full usage, then you have another culprit. Unstable overclock, defective or insufficient PSU, defective GPU, etc etc.

Thanks for the answers!
Running at over 640fps to 800fps ***for prolonged periods*** may burn out certain components of a video card, this is why Half-Life 2 and Source Engine games are limited to 300fps by default.

Most games don't run that fast unlocked though, and merely disabling Vsync is usually safe.

You will usually hear coil whine before you damage the video card though.
