It is terrible at best. I'd return it.
If you want something cheap that will work very good; look at Logitech Controllers or Microsoft Xbox360 Controller

Just ensure to switch it to X-input for best results with PC Games.
You sure it is the only Controller type you have plugged in? Otherwise having multiple controllers plugged in is not a good idea. As most games can only see one; and in Windows only one can be the dominate default at any given time. Which you can check via Winkey+R and then type JOY.CPL
Try loading up Steam > Big Picture Mode > check your Controller in there.
Then load up a game from BPM and see if then the game sees it ok.
But whatever...
