Best Value 5.1 Surround Sound
I have been looking into replacing my old Creative A520 5.1 surround sound system, since it has stopped working. I quite like Creative so one of their products would be preferable. The best value system I have found is the Creative A550 which seems to have good reviews. But I would like to get other opinions on this matter. I dont really care for looks, so it doesn't have to be anything amazing looking. I would also like to stick to a similar price to the A550. Thank you in advance.

They seem like great speakers and there are many positive reviews about them but they are a bit out of my price range.

For cheaper ones that are still decent; look at Logitech Z506

Otherwise get a couple high quality book shelf speakers and for Surround Sound, use a Headset instead.

Microlab's fc730 and fc360 5.1 systems will give you much richer sound than comparatively priced systems from the likes of creative and such.
Check them out ;)

I use a Logitech Z506 and I must say that it's a very good budget surround speaker kit. The Z906 may have some improved sound, but is overpriced. The Z506 has decent sound, but the DFX audio enhancer software makes it sound even better.

I suppose that 500W is VERY overkill for regular (not quite big) rooms. You'll then probably keep its volume in lower range most of the time - It's like buying a Ferrari to drive only not faster than 60kph.
