How can i pop an Dell Inspiron 530 IO shield out?

I just got a Dell Inspiron 530 computer from a friend of mine, he doesn't need it anymore. I got it home, dissected every component there are, rinsed the whole case in water then i realized i couldn't pop the shield out.

I intend to use that case for my future pc to save a little bit money. I already got a i7 6700k LGA1511, so i need a different mobo from what's already in there.

If it can't be pop out, can i cut it? Or anything i can do at all?

If all options fall, I hope Frys does buy used part.

on some oem cases you cant

its hard to reuse oem cases on aftermarket boards
you may need to repin the fron panel connector, (power/rest buttons, hdd/power leds)

spend $20-50 on a better case with good airflow

Yea on Dell Inspiron 530 you can't remove the I/O Shield.
If you are changing Motherboard, just get a cheap ATX Case.

i had hp dx2200 case, it had non removable io shield so i just cut it and insert new one in its place. just measure right size

i advice you to avoid oem cases they generally have subpar cooling and airflow

Ahh. Too bad then. At least I can salvage the hard drive in there, it's 7200rpm with sata interface, albeit only 320Gb.

What should I do with the rest of the components?

What do you mean other components the old parts? If so put it back together and make a dedicated server out of it

Measure the IO shield in the case and see if it matches the dimensions of a typical IO shield. If it doesn't forget about it. If it does, it's probably removable with a little grinding.

i still wouldnt do that, itll leave metal shavings in the case, in an oem they can be difficult to clean out and can short parts of the mobo

I disagree. Nothing a good magnet and vacuum cleaner can't clean up.

I guess it really depends on what model the case is I remember my father's old computer was nowhere near standard (the power supply was on top of the cpu) it was some old dell [vio I think something like that it's been years]

Yea not that hard really, if the OP does it right that is.

Or just get a different ATX Case and put all the parts in that.

Properly recycle that old Dell case and Motherboard.

That Dell case i was talking about has a psu on top of the cpu lol. It literally sitting on top of the cpu fan.

Lol I still wonder who thought that was a good idea but I don't think you can use that case with a atx build too abnormal

While it does have an Un-removable I/O shield, you could do what I'm going to be doing with my old Inspiron 530. Im getting a new mobo for it and so it will fit, I'm just going to cut out the old I/O shield, and make a space for modern I/O shields to fit.
