need urgent help
hello all im new here.

the last couple of months, my games run with very low fps, even when im in the menus.i cant seem to find the problem and i cheked all the settings etc.i have the latest nvidia drivers too.this happens when i play the new games and not the older ones.my pc hardware was full of dust and was making some noise so i tought that was the problem, i had it all cleaned out at the pc store and still my newest games run to slow!. my pc should handle them with ease because i Always played them with like 60 or 30 fps before.

my specs: windows 7 sp1
processor I7 4790k 4ghz
8 gb memory
nvidia geforce 960 gtx 2gb

could it be that a service in my task manager is using most of my cpu??? i really like to find out the problem before Friday coz mafia 3 is going to be released and i like to play it that day.

thanks in advance!

When you brought the PC home, did you ensure to connect any Display(s) to the NVIDIA GPU in the Slot, and not the Intel GPU on the Motherboard.

Otherwise it may be using the Intel GPU instead.
ercan0 2016 年 10 月 4 日 下午 4:57
ofcourse i conected it in the right slot, otherwise on windows my system would not recognize my gpu. something is definitley causing the problem becasue i Always ran my games at good speed

No, you can use either GPU.
However Games would only run off of the one a Display is connected to, and if that happens to be the Intel GPU you are connected to, then Games would run poor.

Why did you even need to take the machine some place to do this?
Blow out the dust yourself, as part of regular maintenance.

Have you defrag or use CCleaner? They are supposed to make your PC more faster. Also, are you using an SSD, HDD, or both?
ercan0 2016 年 10 月 4 日 下午 5:04
i never did it before and somethimes you need to unscrew a part or even replace some old parts. thats why i rather have the profesionals do it.

but why do you think i have plugged my display in the wrong slot?? my windows clearly shows that my geforce is working properly

Then wipe out the NVIDIA Drivers using DDU App
Stick to 368.81
Dont install Geforce Experience

i cant uninstall my drivers without knowing for sure. why do you think geforce experience is bad? that program always updates your drivers. i always use ccleaner and anti malware bytes. i only have avg and geforce experience running in the background.my pc is strong enough. just cannot understand why those games dont run properly anymore...

Did you check your Time and Date at the BIOS level ? this can cause issues if it's wrong

I believe Bad-Motha suggested not to install Gforce Experience because it runs in the back ground and is some what of a resource Hog. Also it will Install new Drivers automatically which you DON'T want if nothing is wrong. When was the last driver update that you know of? If it was recent then that's your problem and maybe you might want to follow Bad-Motha's advice

what do you mean with clearing the cmos? and no my time and date on windows were correct.its kinda strange becasue i bought this new pc last year july and my games ran fine until this years may or june, now my new games just run with very low fps. i dont have any viruses or spywares and i always keep register clean with ccleaner.

I would suggest what bad-motha said then.

Is it only in games your PC seems to run slow?I would see if the system shows the correct amount of Ram installed.Sometimes when moving your pc things get knocked around.Ram can come unseated.Just a thought. Also check cpu temp and make sure CPU fan is spinning.
ercan0 2016 年 10 月 4 日 下午 8:30
no there is nothing wrong with cpu fan or cooling. i have a cooling master inside the pc, its a very good one and like i sayd before, i just had everything inside it cleaned out.all the hardware are seated the corect way too.

and yes the problem occurs only during gaming. when i start playing high demanding games, the fps drops down to like 15 fps or even below.

i think i know what the problem is.have to explain something first.2 months back,my lcd monitor was broken and i had only black screen but everything else worked.so i had it repaired and the guy sayd he needed to replace some parts inside the monitor.i have a 17 inch monitor and i run it at 1280X1024 with 75 hz refresh rate. with that being sayd, some strange things happend with other games like, imput signal out of range problem on my monitor.this never happend before either.and when i check video resolution on windows, i can set the resolution even beyond 1280x1024 wich is imposible because my monitor only can handle 1280x1024 at its highest.i never had that before too.mybe thats why i experience lagging with games recently and thats why mybe my monitors signal goes out of range with some games. in geforce experience i can also see resolution options beyond 1280x1024 when optimising games. oh and i forgot to say, while my monitor was in repaire ,i used a bigger lcd monitor with a 21 inch with high resolution option, that didnt mix anyithing with my other monitor did it??

Monitor your CPU/GPU Temps in real-time, on-screen
Sounds to me like either CPU or GPU is thermal throttling.
If everything is fine for a short time, then the FPS tanks and stays down low, hard now hard to control, etc.. Thermal Throttle due to high temps, that is the first thing to look at.

Why not download the 3Dmark demo here on steam. It will test at different resolutions and
giive you some info on your system. Also remember we don't know your systems history.
Plus we can't look at it.So we have to ask questions.I sense an bit of attiude from you.
ercan0 2016 年 10 月 5 日 上午 5:39
no i dont mean to show any attitude. its that i aint a native speaker. im dutch. you guys are the experts.

bad-motha think youre right about thermal throttling becasue i can even hear my pc throttling and it keeps making this strange sound constantly.it just doesnt settle down.something definitley has changed. at the time when my games ran fine, this constand sound wasnt there.thats one of the reasons why i took my pc to the computer store to let them clean the dust so that this throttling sound would disappear. its more quieter now but i can still hear that constand noise.
i dont have any knowledge about pc hardware but i can download a little software to check my cpu tempreture etc.i also have a feeling that mybe something in the windows task manager is using most of my cpu memory or something uneseccary is running in the background.

wich software you suggest to check my cpu and gpu temps??
