will i7 2600 bottleneck gtx 970?

i have i7 2600 3.4 GHz, thinking about getting new card gtx 970... im wondering if i would be able to get intended performance from gtx 970, will i7 2600 bottleneck it?

I have both and on the games that I play at 1080p the gtx970 even overclocked to the max is slower than the 2600.

But I don't think buying a gtx970 now is worth it. For example, on Witcher 3 it just achieves 60fps overclocked with nvidia driver tweaks and on Skyrim with a medium ENB 30-40 fps.

Should not bottleneck with that quad core processor. But for that kind of money I'd go for the GTX 1060 6GB GAMING X. 10XX Series GPU PASCAL is faster and has more VRAM than the MAXWELL 4GB 970.

Absolutely not. The i7-2600 is still a beast and can handle even a GTX 1080 just fine.

althoguh, i have some cpu heating problems ONLY when playing gta5. core temps peak 78 C with stock cooler after 1-2h+ playing. is there any not-so-expensive cooler you might recommend? this is only with gta5, other games peak at least 8-10 C less. idle temps are ~ 35C.
