Graphics card choice
I need some help on my system. I am not too tech savy so please be easy on me. I have a Lenovo i5-4460 8GB with gt720. all I want is a card and power supply to run Skyrim at high levels for around $300, give or take. I am concidering a GTX 770 and i Guess 500W PSU to run it. I am not looking for a gaming machine, just a little boost in performance on the cheap. Does this sound doable? Any advice is appreciated.

Look on the Lenovo Desktop Case, should be a sticker with the full model# or part# on it.
What is that exactly? This would be helpful. To look up the model and see the Case, etc.

For GPU I would suggest nothing below or older than GTX 960 or 970

Its a 2 year old K450e 57327818. I am not sure what will fit size wise or work with motherboard and other hardware. Thats why I was kinda thinking with the GTX 700 series.

There isn't really any 700 series still on the market, other then maybe GTX 750 Ti 2GB
The rest would be "used"

Nothing wrong with a newer GPU on an i5-4460; the newer ones tend to be better overall, smaller and require less power over older ones anyways.

I plan on building a gaming rig this winter for my son so i am just trying to perk up the old PC on the cheap. I will concider all suggestions, just keep in mind i only want to buy a graphics card and power supply. anything more than that to me is just not worth it. Does that sound reasonable?

Would a GTX 960 work with my PC? I'm guessing i need a new power supply. What wattage would i need to run that?

That tower is fine as far as spacing for most GPUs and PSUs are concerned.
Those shipped with a 280W so yes you'll need a better ATX PSU, such as 500W or better for most GPUs.

GTX 960 or 970 would cost roughly same, if not more when "new"

Otherwise you could look on Ebay for GTX 960 4GB; which could be found at decent price, again "used"

You are answering me before I post. Thats awesome, Thanks.

That link is for aGTX 1060. Is that price for real?! I thought they where much more. Thats exactly in my budget. That should be good enough for Skyrim and some other older games, right?

Games like Skyrim or Fallout 4 with plenty of Mods; running at highest visual settings at 1080p/60 FPS, yes not a problem. Your CPU and RAM are more then enough, just needs a decent GPU.

Do you reside in USA? As that is probably only way to get the newer GPUs like 1060 that cheap.
