Is it possible to change monitor refresh rate to an option not listed?
I have a BenQ XL2411 and a Nvidia GTX 750 ti GPU. I am able to choose from 144, 120, 100 and 60 Hz in the display adapter properties and Nvidia Control Panel Resolution settings. I am wondering if there is any way I can change my Hz to something to anything I want like 70 or 80

why would you want a lower framerate?

and if you have a nvidia gpu you can set vsync on all games to be adaptive and half refreash rate to get 72 fps if you have a 144hz monitor

I don't want a lower framerate, I just want to adjust my HZ to the framerate that I'm getting. I don't get 144 FPS, I usually get 80-100. If you play at a higher HZ than you have FPS then your mouse aim will get messed up.

Do you have XL2411T ? Without freesync with 3d vision?
I have XL2730Z with freesync. Freesync is good (in theory) but i don't use it anyway since i have a nvidia card.
Vsync is so bad - I would never use it.
Just forget about these screen tearing solutions and configure the games so that high framerates can be achieved.

this is not true in the slightest :l

your gpu drivers should have a option to limit fps somewhere or at least the AMD crimson edition driver have

So which GPU does the OP have exactly?
Helps if we know this first.
If you have NVIDIA GPU and not a G-Sync Display, then simply apply the full Hz of the Display, then in NVIDIA Control Panel, force-enable "Adaptive Sync" under your V-Sync options. Then in-game turn off those V-Sync options. The NVIDIA GPU will now be able to better match FPS with Refresh as best it can. Without G-Sync this is one of the better means of doing it. Capping FPS is not really the best solution. Also ensure that game loads up in Full Screen mode. In any other mode, those kinds of settings are most likely not going to be able to work.

I'm sorry that you don't understand but that is how it works.

Set a custom FPS limit for the game / program in question.

Why not just use a 60htz refresh rate? do you think those extra 12 frames per second are going to make a difference?
Andrius227 Sep 13, 2016 @ 12:56am
You can create custom refresh rates in the nvidia control panel. I have used it to 'overclock' some of my monitors.

Under 'Change resulution' you can create a custom one with any refresh rate you want.

You shouldn't be so rude to people especially when they're right and you're wrong, it's you that doesn't understand what's going on here, your low performance isn't because you're getting 72fps on a 144htz monitor, it's because you're using Vsync.

I did not intend my comment to be rude, it is up to the person reading it to percieve it as such. Do not assume that everybody you come across on the internet is a jerk. You will be much happier with online interactions :)

You need to just get a decent GPU
