Second, all MBs are "BIOS motherboards", or more correctly, have a BIOS.
He means has has LEGACY; as in non UEFI
But it really doesn't matter; u do not require UEFI to use Win8 or 10; they just have certain features that only work with UEFI BIOS types, such as Secure Boot
If you don't know, use this i.e. http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

cpuz -> validate button -> submit button
it will open a browser, copy the url (address) and paste it here
What about it? All PCIE cards will work in a PCIE slot, GPUs just need a PCIE x16 slot is all. That's the jist of how it works. Unless the Motherboard is from an OEM PreBuild like Dell/HP, then u shouldn't have an issue.
I've tried newer GPUs such as 900 series ones in older LGA-775 boards; WinXP, Win7, Win10; it was of ZERO issues.
Newer GPUs work on Legacy BIOS and UEFI BIOS types; it's older GPUs that do not work on newer UEFI BIOS; such as GTX 400/500 series. They CAN work, but only if you were to set the Motherboard BIOS to Legacy or UEFI Compatibility Modes; Full UEFI however and you won't be able to use older GPUs. This shouldn't be an issue anymore because you should have both a fairly newer Motherboard and GPU by now.
But when people were getting UEFI boards when first released; such as AMD 990FX or Intel P67; they had issues with older GPUs if the user wanted full UEFI Mode for OS such as Win8
They way you phrased this made it seem like I was asking if I needed UEFI to use Win 8 or 10
Anyway, so you're saying older GPU's dont work on UEFI BIOS motherboards, but the GTX 950 will work on Legacy motherboards?
Again though, just to clarify. You do not require a UEFI Motherboard for Win8 or 10 OS.
UEFI has a range of settings in the BIOS, which can ultimately determine how both Hardwre and OS function to a certain extent.
If I have UEFI Motherboard set to Full UEFI Mode, that is needed to use certain functions in Win8 or 10, such as Secure Boot; but then this can cut the ability for certain older GPUs to function correctly.
So I can change the UEFI Mode to Legacy or Compatibly type of Mode; this allows older OS (such as WinXP) and older GPUs to work just fine on the newer boards.
However, you want the UEFI Mode on your Motherboard set for what the OS would need and such. As you don't want to have the UEFI Mode on Full, install Win10, then go and change the UEFI Mode later to Legacy, as then that could mess with your OS, how it boots, etc.
NVIDIA GTX 600 series GPUs and later are new enough to not have any issues with UEFI Modes; regardless of what that is set to. And so yes, even the very latest GPUs to date, will technically work on older boards prior to UEFI being implemented.
