Monitor issues...well I think....
I have been having issues with my monitor going to sleep and not waking up really slowly. I just got this monitor so I don't know that much about it (BenQ XL2411Z) I tried to wake it recently but when it woke it said no signal detected... I'm assuming it is either a loose connection or could have it been my gpu? I know my power supply is a little weak could a lack of power to the gpu have caused this?

Sorry for being long winded I just wanted to clarify as much as possible and thank you for your help....

dont use sleep
or tell windows to keep the monitor on, and use the power button on the monitor

This is the PCI-e slot for the graphics card...

An issue with sleep mode can occur if both your BIOS and Windows attempts to sleep together. It wakes up one but not the other.

Go under your Control Panel > Power Options

If you don't wish to sleep, etc - set it to High performance.

Go under the 'change plan settings' > then 'Change advanced power settings'

Look for 'PCI Express' > 'Link State Power Management' > Settings: Off

That should hopefully solve it.

---

That BenQ XL2411Z is an extremely nice monitor for hardcore gaming, have a blast!

If still any issues, please note what graphics card and power supply you have?

I use the same monitor and it is a little sluggish to wake up. Sometimes I have to hit enter on the keyboard.

Looks great when set up properly though

So is making the monitor stay on at all times safe? I've done it but is it safe?

Most people don't use screen savers or sleep mode anymore. Rather it's easier just turning off the monitor (optionally windows lock) if going away for a short period. Or just shutting down, due to using SSD (solid state drive) boot time is only 3-5 seconds and takes similar or less time than sleep does anyways.

Having the OS turn off the Display is fine, just don't use Sleep for the whole PC.

I like to have the Monitor set to around 2 hours; that way by the time I fall asleep to a movie, if I do wake up while it's still dark, I don't have the screen glaring at me, cause it's super-bright with lights off.

When Display goes off, all you should ever have to do is move the mouse.

Hi,
I have a Benq XL2730Z with nvidia strix 970 gtx.
I had the problem that sometimes the monitor went not on after cold start.
Then I detected that all this problem occurred with display port.
I switched to hdmi and since then there are no longer problems.

I don't know if my issues had been caused by the graphics card or the monitor or sth. else.

Please use
htmi with 120 Hz
, not 144 Hz. I don't know it for sure, but I guess hdmi only supports 120 Hz, but that's still fine.
Be aware that games which are still set to 120Hz could probably go out of sync.

Tell me if this fixes your problems.

For 144Hz you want to use DVI or DisplayPort.

I think you need the latest version of HDMI to output higher than 60hz at 1080p.
I can tell you that the strix 970 does not have it.
It has a dual link DVI though and you should be using that

I'm using the dvi cable

I'm certain it's an issue with BenQ monitors firmware. Mine is slow off the mark and from memeory it has refused to wake once or twice ages ago.
It hasn't really been an issue for me though. If a mouse shake doesn't do it I spam enter.
My mouse is plugged into a USB2 and my KB is plugged into USB3 after it played up (old but new G19)
It takes around 5 seconds to wake now

I also have a problem with alt-tabbing in games....
