Oops. I was looking at videos about the cards and certainly there seemed to be worries that the connector just wasn't user fool-proof enough.

that 4090ti better not have that ♥♥♥♥
It's the way the cable was oriented. You're not supposed to bend them or stuff them close to your side panel.

This happens when you plug your power pin in but let it squish against the side panel, in an effort to close it, despite not fitting properly. Then it catches fire.

I've seen this before. This isn't a problem with the cards. They're putting rtx 4090 in a tiny PC probably and squishing the side panel on and just using it that way.
Not that I'm getting one but as these cards are huge and that port is opposite the side panel I'd feel much more comfortable with Cable mods 90 Degree cable.... https://store.cablemod.com/cablemod-12vhpwr-right-angle-adapter/

And this is why I waited... They need a better plug design, was warned about before existed. Even the ATX 3.0 plug suffers from this direct from PSU.
didnt 3090ti use the same connector and draw more power?

Uh oh 🧐

Why couldn't they just use 4x8-pin like the R9 290x2 and 390x2? If PCB space is such a big concern, just move the connectors to the end of the heatsink with some cables.

Or they could just use EPS like on the RTX A6000(300W) or H100 PCIe(350W).

It's not like only one type of product from one company uses it... Oh wait.

Seems more like a proprietary connector to me.
yeah i was seeing on the news that the cables were melting its all just ♥♥♥♥ plastic from china put more quality in the cards will ya Nvidia
Lets make graphics card that draws 600W of power, what could possibly go wrong... :steamfacepalm:

It's like bringing a drag car to the track knowing the motor will blow up by the finish line. It won but looks like a chump and needs to be replaced while the opponent safely crosses the line a second or two later.

You do realize that the 12VHPWR connector is part of the ATX 3.0 spec and not some random creation by Nvidia right? The poor design is on PCI-SIG.

Is this the adapter issue for 3-4 8 pin to create a 16pin or would the ATX 3.0 PSU suffer the same issue? The ATX3.0 PSU would be a single 16pin different from the one sent in every 4090 box as this one comes from the PSU manufacturer.

The card is too thick, Nvidia should of bundled a right angle connector by default. If you pay $1699 you deserbe a decent cable.

I do and calm down.

"You do realize..." Sheesh lol
