Recommended Liquid AIO Coolers for an Intel I7 6700k, anything up to 240mm?
Hey guys, corsair H100I GTX isn't working properly, and i'm getting a new cooler. I didn't do much research picking this cooler when I did, but now i'm a lot more educated (not smart at all, but more educated) in the pc building scene, and I need help deciding on a new AIO cooler that will mount properly unlike this corsair, that is within $130 but still quality. Any help would be great, and please don't leave useless comments like telling me to build my own loop, because that isn't going to happen.

Thanks!

Although I do agree a heatsink could cause damage bouncing around on the back seat, couldn't you just remove it before travelling and reinstall it when you arrive?

I havent' used a mega-sink CPU cooler before, but surely they just bolt in like the smaller ones do?
I have an Noctua NH-D14. I just lay my pc on its side of I have to move it.

I was really nervous about it prior to installing but the backplate is a good one and it is very secure.

I understand how you feel, but there's nothing to worry about. As Shiel rightly pointed out, they come with a backplate to strengthen the motherboard and prevent any stress or damage.

I would strongly recommend you get an air cooler of some kind. It doesn't have to be huge, something relatively compact like a Cryorig C7 or H7 would be perfect. Unless you're able to spend around $250 and buy something like an EK Predator, I can't recommend liquid cooling.

Just one of the many reasons one would be mobile with a PC. Not sure why you think it is funny.

I always recommend removing the GPU of a PC that is going to travel. It is obviously easy to put back. No fuss.

The cooler, on the other hand, would require cleaning the old paste and reapplying. Doing this for travel, every single time, would get tedious. I'd recommend an AIO Liquid cooler in this case... But yeah, I suppose you could remove the cpu air cooler, if you don't mind redoing TIM.

You could also just lay it on the side, so that there isn't as much force on the cooler. Meaning that the cooler is pointing straight up. It would reduce the possibility a great deal.

The issue is not how they are bolted in, but rather the leverage. They stick far out and, well... Physics.

Even though it is a possibility... It is a small possibility.

The amount of force needed is not small. Simply moving around your house will do nothing. The amount of force needed would be from a drop, vehicle forces, etc.

I know I said that it happens, but consider it extreme cases. No need to actually worry, to the point of avoiding them. Air coolers work just fine and have done so since forever.

I find it funny, LAN partys are a minority

The backplate with the various ways of mounting take and hold most of the weight of the actual Pump or Tower Heatsink. The stress on the actual board itself is very minimal.

If you do transport any Desktop, I always suggest that it be laid down flat, so the motherboard is flat, with the cooler stand upwards; that helps limit possibility of damages along the way. Also helps to keep the GPU down in its slot as well.

For local transporting; if you had to pick between where the PC Tower should lay down; I'd pick the back seat, not in the hatch/trunk area. In the trunk area, the PC Tower could bounce around too much. Rear side, Passenger side is good idea; laying motherboard side flat; then move the Front passenger seat back slightly, enough to never allow the PC Tower to shift and end up on the floor.

Yeah, not many games support LAN multiplayer these days. Some games can be forced to do it, but most people just play over online servers.

Pity, as LAN parties are a great way to have fun with friends in person. I used to do LAN parties for C&C back several years ago (before EA ruined the series).

Typically any damage that could occur from a tower cooler is the mounting parts.

Not to say I haven't seen motherboard damage, but it has been in extreme cases.

Yup. Limits the leverage that could potentially lead to damage.

This, plus a seat belt helps.

Seat Belt does not really work for the most part if the PC Tower is to lay flat.

And if you are not using the seats (like how I explained in Post#65 above)
Such as this way for example:
http://st.automobilemag.com/uploads/sites/11/2015/08/2016-Toyota-Tacoma-TRD-Sport-rear-seats-fold-down.jpg

http://image.fourwheeler.com/f/34827197+w660+re0/1203-4wd-09%2B20102-jeep-wrangler-unlimited%2Bfolding-rear-seats

Then your PC Tower can easily slide around, given those surface types; a non-slip rubber matt would be highly recommend for the PC Tower to lay on during transport if that back-seat method doesn't work for you.

It does if you strap it down right. Depends on the seat, I suppose.

I always use a seat belt and it holds tight. I don't put it on it like a person, but rather wrap it in a way that it won't come loose until I reach my destination.

I don't know if you can afford them, but Swifttech and EK are the best brands available. And the only two I've never heard a horror story about. I would get an EK XLC Predator, I don't know about the US but in Australia it's only a little more expensive than a Corsair and much better quality.

Predator is $200 usd plus fees from shipping/taxes etc, although on it's website it is listed as $159.99

I'm considering going with a Swiftech H220 X-2 or an H240-x2 if I can't find anything else.
