Unless you plan on streaming or do lots of video editing, in which case the i7 can be useful.
Personally i'd go for the i7 & 1060, doesn't mean you should as well. See the problem?
BUT, if you can save up for the i7 and the 1070, that would be a great option.
What resolution will you be playing at?
If the OP is asking for one or the other, obviously that means the 1080 is over the budget.

You mean a used gen 2 i5 right? To make up for the $200 gap from the 1070 to 1080.
IMO 1080 are pointless if you don't plan to get 1440 144hz monitor, and CPU that won't be bottlenecking it.
........ I dont see how video makes a monitor pointless, in fact Id only get a high end intel with 144 or 240 hz monitor
But zen is around the corner, I dont need to switch to the dark side. :D
