CPU Not Compatible With Motherboard.

I have a fx 8350 and my motherboard is MS-7641 I looked online and they said that it isn't compatible but it still somehow works but it only lets me play low demanding games but when I get to high demanding games my pc instantly crashes. Am I even supposed to be able to play any games?

that puts it closer to xeon territory than current 1150 skylake i5/i7

for heavily threaded tasks zen may be a better chioce
but some of the newer xeons are 10-20+ cores

Are the three benchmarks I've seen. The first one is the one AMD decided to show.
The later two aren't all that interesting or impressive as is and is still in line with the 40% increased IPC at-least for the middle one but we'll see what it actually become eventually.

Everybody knows these links. You cannot get any hint about Zen performance from them. My collegues still believe Zen will be comparable with Sandy Bridge.

Until the Zen (AM4) Motherboards and CPUs are in the hands of reviewers; we won't have any real hard results (outside of what AMD is willing to share); leaked benchmarks are still from inside AMD, so I would not take that as hard evidence. Would you trust #s that only came from Intel alone? Of course not.

This is totally off-topic but.

Pretty sure not "everyone" have seen the content on them.
40% IPC over FX-8350 could be seen as catching up with i7 2600K and 2700K, possibly.
And the Ashes of singularity and GeekBench benchmarks suggest poor performance / core.

On the other hand there's the CineBench one and the catching up in number of ALUs and FMAC / core to Intel. Someone at some time mentioned better than Broadwell but worse than Skylake too and if that would be / core then it would be just fine (on the other hand only interesting if it actually cost quite a bit less than the i7 6800K (rather really the 6900K) and X99 otherwise so what?)

If it just end up competing vs the i7 6700K then "eh", if it does give that performance for the price of an FX-8350 (assuming i7 7700K isn't much faster) then sure it's a great value alternative and a good buy but it's not really something worth waiting for all that much since the alternatives already exist. It's a pain for me since if I wait for it and it doesn't beat Intel in price / performance or performance then what did I wait for? On the other hand if I don't wait and it does beat Intel ...

I would trust them for what they was (if they mentioned clock and the benchmark used I would trust it for that benchmark at that clock.)

I'm 37 years old, my first computer was an MSX machine running on a Z80, I assume you may be 20+ years old but otherwise I would had started to program before you even existed. I've programmed Motorola 68000 and 6800 assembler, I've got a bechelor degree in computing science, I've run lots of Linux distributions, Free-, Open- and NetBSD, Solaris, QNX, hackintosh, OS X, have owned Sun Ultra 30s. I've followed computer / tech sites for 20 years. I'm curious and want to understand things and have tried to look up what's the difference in the design of Phenom, FX and Intel processors.

The only knowledge needed is to actually look at the numbers which is higher for the i3 than for the FX processor - it's like pre-school math which is needed for that.

An i5 is better than both an i3 and an FX-8300 series processor for gaming even in 1080 and even with mid-range graphics cards.

It of course was directed to me he just want to argue that since I felt the need to defend my position I took it onto myself and hence it must be true which of course is unsound logic but what haven't been? Guess this thread is pretty much done since long though.
