Xbox One A and B buttons switched

I recently bought a new controller and it was working fine for the first couple of days. Then, all of a sudden, the A button became the cancel/go back button and the B button became the accept button. It's infuriating to deal with and I would like to switch it back.

check your game settings , if you already did , try downloading Xbox Accessories from the Microsoft store and use that.

It is a bug with the recent beta update. Go back to stable build and it should be fixed.

I went into settings, and while I'm not sure what I did, it's back to normal. Thanks for the help.

It happened to me too, I managed to change the buttons, but X and Y are also changed when I play Spider-man Remaster. Changing it in the same steam controller configuration tab doesn't fix the X/Y commands ingame. Gonna wait for the next update.

Double check the controller profile layout in the controller settings of BogPictureMode. It's possible that you are using a Sony controller layout which would flip those buttons around like that.

Check your Steam Client settings also. If not opted into the BETA, try doing that as the issue might already be fixed in the beta version.

This is happening for ps5 controllers too..its diving me NUTS. I spent 4 hours yesterday and 2 hours today trying to swap buttons on controller settings only for it to not work. the square and triangle buttons are swapped too for me.

Again I ask. Are you in the Steam Beta or not. If not and this is happening opt into the Beta and see if that fixes the issue. Often times Steam puts out a bugged stable and a fixed Beta. Makes no sense I know but it happens

I turned off beta and it fixed it for me. Thanks a lot. I had no idea what was causing it and it was a hair puller lol.

I have had the same issue in Destiny 2. If you are playing that. do you best to get to the Settings cog next to your Inventory. Click the cog.in the button layout section click fo rthe drop down to display.Select the Green thumb. This adds another selection underneath which allows you to then swop the command buttons. A and B. Choose to swop confirm and cancel to OFF. Then swop the Green thumb back to Default and these are once again working as they should be.
