Does Microsoft slow down Windows?
I’ve had Windows 10 installed on an SSD since it launched. For years my PC has booted incredibly fast. (About 30 seconds)

These days the boot takes about 1 and a half minutes to boot. Why has it slowed? Tpdoes it have something to do with the seemingly endless windows updates I’ve been forced to install?

That's too long of a run for the OS. It has changed alot over the years.
Do a complete wipe of SSD and make your own freshly made Win10 64bit 21H2 USB Flash Drive. Boot from it, do a clean OS install.

Superfetch copies all your commonly used files to RAM, the question is, how many files is copying?

This thing also happens with windows 7 even if you don't do any updates.

SSD as OS Drive = SuperFetch and Prefetch should be disabled. All that does is clutter up the SSD for zero benefits.
Yes, see if your drive needs a TRIM. Open Start Menu and type in: de to get the Defragment and Optimize Drive app.

You can also check for startup entries that aren't necessary (like on here: Mozilla Mainteance service) and any non-essential Intel stuff like the Capability Licensing manager.

Open Task Manager and click the Startup tab at the top. Then look what's there. Additional startups not shown would be found via msconfig. Windows key + "R" key, then in box, type msconfig

Click Services tab at the top, then tick "Hide all Microsoft services" box at bottom. Then look at whatever is left. If you''re not sure, leave it. If you have a third party antivirus, it must start with Windows so don't disable anything there.

Also wouldn't be a bad idea to run a scan. If not your antivirus, try these:

https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner

To check whether your system has corrupted files, Open Start and type: cmd

Right-click on cmd to run as Admin. Then copy/paste: sfc /scannow

If there are corrupted files, copy/paste: dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
Then run the sfc /scannow again to check.

If as a last resort, you have to reinstall Windows, here are some methods which preserve certain files and settings on the system.

That's just your drive getting bloated with registry edits, file build-up, and temporary files for windows updates. Nothing to do with Microsoft purposely going out their way to slow down Windows.

if you have lots of ram and its using sleep/wake
try reboot, that forces it to do a clean boot
sounds like cluttered and need to do fresh install
I would try to debloat it first. If that doesn't work well: Fresh install.

Only if you disable the Fast Startup / Hibernation features
Completed a fresh install. Unfortunately it made no difference to my boot time.

What brand of ssd do you have? Maybe it's time to check its health status.

Had you added any devices, either expansion cards or USB peripherals, since you got your system?

OP did mention reinstalling Windows. That should blow away all the junk unless OP reinstalled some OEM bloatware.
