Microsoft never made a good os since somewhere around windows 7
For me I'l wait till Win10 no longer supported and may even jump straight to 12, if it's released by then. May even go back over to Linux.
Dislike things like the simplified context menu. Vast majority of things I use on the 'Simplified' Menu now require another click. minimal as it is thats more work and NOT efficient for me. Even made the text larger so there are less option in a smaller space. People haven't suddenly pushed their screens further away so there is no need for larger text. Unless ever suddenly needs glasses/stronger prescription.
I right click for options no a few but ALL of them. Let me either toggle simplified On/Off or configure what options are visible on the Simplified version. Sure I code Regedit it but MS could screw that with any update and I'd need to repeat it.
Going more IMac and STUPID....sorry, I mean SMART device interface than PC. I don't need nor want ♥♥♥♥ BIGGER and pretty. I don't want to spend time on the web looking at how to change ♥♥♥♥ because MS decided move, change, removed stuff.
Sure there'd be more but I wiped my system and went back to Win 10 within 2 hours of installing 11 and I was afk for part of that.
Same with me. Microsoft "saved" me a lot of time... so cool of them.
And I totally dont unerstand why they banished drag and drop. On W10 one can easily drag file to a mail and attach it. In W11 u always have to look for a command in program to attach file. Why? It is like following own footsteps from few decades.
the sole human being out of billions.
congratulations
windows vista, on the other hand, had zero humans who loved it.
As for my machine, I currently have a 12th Gen Core i7, which due to its hybrid architecture depends on Windows 11 for its full capability. In addition, Auto HDR is a significant upgrade, even if it currently only supports DirectX 11 and 12.
I loved Vista. I had a pretty powerfull pc so it ran great and looked amazing. It was a good upgrade from xp.
At this point, that's basically just its standing cult status.
Windows 7 proved it wasn't all bad, as it was basically the same thing with some slight changes. Windows Vista was bad at launch/in its time, but wasn't necessarily inherently bad. I say that as someone who skipped Windows Vista but instantly embraced Windows 7.
Windows ME, Windows 8, and Windows 10/11 are more firmly the "bad" versions in my mind (unsure of whether Windows 8.1 barely escapes this or not). And even those differ in reasons why. Windows ME also wasn't inherently bad (for the most part anyway), mostly just unstable as it was Windows 9x pushed over the edge with a few new features that (surprise, just like Windows Vista) needed more tuning. Windows 8 was the only TRULY irredeemable version for me. Windows 10/11 are "bad" but mostly in that they are awfully mediocre and do some bad things in principle; they are at least mostly tolerable though.
It's because they're designing with touch in mind and having one OS for both desktop and touch.
I noticed in the web browser that Outlook basically gives you a few options for spacing, and if you use any of the lesser ones, things suddenly look more organized, clean, and less cluttered. It looks more Windows 7 and prior rather than Windows 8+ like everything does now.
The user interfaces are still a mess so it's not very friendly. But you get used to it after a while--you don't have a choice actually, unless you want to ditch Windows altogether.
