Windows 10 cpu power setting for gaming
Windows 10 cpu power setting

I am posting a settings and it is a performance settings which will help you run pc games and it should work good, they are good settings which everyone should use if you play pc games and want faster performance from your pc.

I will be posting settings for the cpu and it is a power setting which is good.
This is the settings and it is a command for the command prompt, you should run command prompt in admin mode for the settings to be applied.

powercfg.exe -attributes sub_processor perfboostmode -attrib_hide

You should see the new cpu settings in the power options settings.
Open power options.
Click change plan settings.
Click change advanced power settings.

The setting should be in Processor power management. It is called Processor performance boost mode and it should make your cpu run pc games faster and remember if you change the settings and it does not work that good please look it up on google for more info.
Please look at the website I am posting for some more info about the cpu power setting. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/api/microsoft.windows.eventtracing.power.processorperformanceboostmode?view=trace-processor-dotnet-1.0 .

The setting can be used together with the minimum processor state and maximum processor state settings.

ya keep it on best performance by far

Unless we're talking a laptop, in which case a balanced power setting provided by the manufacturer can provide the best balance between performance, heat production, and battery life.

When you charge the laptop, the difference between High Performance and Balanced disappears.

Disabling Core Parking (C6) can improve the performance, but you can't feel it, you can measure it.

If you want, you can check more options by QuickCPU.

In 99% cases, there's no difference between any 'max performance' mode and the default 'balanced', as CPU and GPU boost when needed.

I think the processor performance boost settings should be very helpful and it should make games run better, because the setting optimizes the cpu.

Remember to check out the link that I posted for more information about the processor boost options.

The thing is, it won't make games run better. It won't affect anything, as CPU by default boosts when needed just fine - the default is 'aggressive' as I just checked. You might only need that for disabling/throttling down the turbo boost for better temps, but as a person above me said - QuickCPU is a much better idea for everything.

Makes no difference in gaming as the game would be demanding better performance anyway. Only thing this would do is, maybe, improve stuff on desktop and you'd need to be recording results to compare so see any improvement, slim change at best.

Just because a core/thread is running at 100% speed all the time does not mean it's doing more. Unless the system/application need more performance it could be at max speed but the core/thread only being 10% utilised.

The setting is good for stabilizing the cpu power and I use the EfficientEnabled setting, it seems to work the best for gaming for me. Aggressive and EfficientAggressiveAtGuaranteed setting uses my cpu to much which I think is not good for my cpu.

And I changed the minimum processor state and maximum processor state to below 100 which helps so when running my pc games the cpu does not go to 100% which some times crashes my games.

Processor performance boost mode? "Efficient aggressive" and "Efficient" don't allow the CPU to use boost clock . So if the base clock is 3.2GHz it can't be boosted to 4.0GHz. You will lose performance and I agree it will be more efficient, but stability, no big difference.
Use agressive as it is by default

If you drop min/max processor state, it will disable the boost clock and probably the current clock will be lower than the base clock , again you are losing performance, you don't limit it to 99% or whatever number you are using. If you want to use boost clock but let say you want to use it with 0.2GHz less, you can drop the processor performance boost policy.

I've yet to see any game that saturates the Ryzen 5000 6-core series and CPUs above that, except poorly optimized ones still using SSE2 and below in 2022 that I don't touch.

I'd argue it's better to turn off boost, as I have never seen it make any impact to justify the noise output and energy consumption.

Then again, I only play in 60-75-144Hz modes.
