I do not use any social media and browse with brave, Firefox, or TOR
I use windows for gaming ONLY. And nothing else is on there, I don't even browse on that computer. I use Linux and VMs for everything else
No, any chromium based browser has the ability to isntall grapheneOS directly from their website onto an unlocked pixel. I used the terminal in Linux but its the same results
You plug the phone into a computer and use the browser on the computer. You can also plug a pixel into a graphene pixel and do it that way too
The phone has been completely torn down by independent people, and although it is possible, since Graphene changes it down to the Linux kernel, the amount of data possible for Google to steal is basically zero
100% this
only time my windows touches the net is if steam needs to reassess itself, check on the legitimacy of my keys, or whatever
i hate the idea of my info being used as a commodity. i hate how much these giant, money making companies get for buying and selling it and how little they care for their security.
my info was stolen twice and my accounts drained because of a data leak and it is was a nightmare to get it all cleared up
thanks, partner.
mine is not there. oh well. i am trying to decide ion staying with this and letting it work out some bugs or going back to stock
regardless, any device that has a functional GSM chip is backdoored at the hardware and probably firmware(kernel) level. if you have something worth hiding from law enforcement or other powerful actors you need to ditch the phone yesterday
Leading crumbs is fine. Its about exposing only the normal and useless things and hiding the more personal things that is the goal. You cant disappear, but you absolutely can appear normal and completely non unique
This only covers the software/OS layer.
You completely forget about hardware built in back doors and IMEI tracking + if you use social media/messiging apps it doesn't matter what OS you are running anyway.
I don't, and reducing the amount of data you send is still relevant, especially if you use OSs that sandbox apps. Backdoors and physical tracking arent my main concerns because cell towers arent nearly as accurate as WiFi and GPS data anyway, which I keep disabled
very hard to turn off ble
Afaik graphene has this system beat, its called "nearby devices" and you have the ability to lock it down
