factory settings computer games?

computers often come with free games like: solitaire or hearts, chess, pinball and minesweeper
however these games even now seem to be retired, i mean i only have one on my new laptop.
you know what i miss? Hover. a bumper car like game where you find flags i guess. chips challenge was another one i loved and some really cool educating games i played growing up that i cant find and my memory of some are vague. why wernt those games ever brought back for modern computers in the early 2000's?

Go to MS Store, there are old bundles games for free.

you need to buy them from the ms store
or grab them from an older os install

Plenty of free game from Windows Store you can snag, as well as free stuff via Pogo, BigFish, Epic, Steam, IndieGala, GOG; etc.

You can bring Hover back to life by creating a VM (virtual machine)
and install Win 95 on it.

Also, many games from that era can still be played on the now modern computers
with a Dosbox emulator, for example.

I do this for games like Stratego (by Accolade)
or Mortal Kombat 1 / 2 / 3
and tons of other retro and arcade games.

Generally, all of them can still be played,
you just have to do some research instead of assuming it's not possible anymore.

The internet is loaded with websites where you can download all those games
and at least 85% of them are free.

I see you want some nostalgia, that's perfectly fine. so don't waste time here.
