Last I checked the RTX 3k line is the current generation from NV, a simple google search or paying any reasonable level of attention to the markets or what you bought will tell you that.
Also last I checked the same was true for Ryzen 5000 series CPU's from AMD.
And last I checked on those was right now.
Now, if the question is:
Then sure, you bought lower mid range parts, not top of the line or even upper mid range. Their age has nothing to do with the performance bracket you bought into. Your choices in parts purchased do. If you do want more performance simple upgrade the parts.
Latest Nvidia GPUs are still the 3000's series. Some newer versions have more Ram. Cards may have 10GB or 12GB now. $000's may come out later in the year but then again may not.
As for CPU AMD still in the 5000 series CPU. Ryzen 5950X is currently the best AMD CPU and that'd get you maybe 10% better than the your 5600, depending on task.
CPU I'd definitely wait to see how AMD 6000's series perform
GPU I'd wait for next series. If you must have an upgrade just go for a 3070/3080. Maybe one of the versions with more than 8GB ram
EDIT: As mentioned Below you need to ensure the PSU you have can power more demanding hardware. Would help if you listed your specs. Just edit the topic to include your specs
edit: i am a little late. pardon me.
You added stuff I missed. I didn't mention PSU and thats an important thing I missed. Even if you said exactly the same it doesn't hurt to repeat the same stuff.
if/when it does not play the games you want to play well, its time for an upgrade
and maybe Ryzen 5800X at 300 bucks
2. Doesn't tell which games he wants to play
3. Doesn't tell why he wants to upgrade
4. Doesn't tell if he's being bottlenecked or any other issues which gave him the idea for an upgrade
New CPUs are being released every half a year. Doesn't make any sense to wait. To wait on the next GPU generation does make sense on the other hand.
I'd wait for RX 4000.
They'll cost probably two times a RX 3000 GPU but it will be worth it. I can't wait for October to come.
