Can still access blocked site in host file, Help !?
my ISP is "injecting" an ads script making every web i open in browser and in steam has their ads in it. Even steam store in steam desktop app has their ads.

the way i block this ads is to add the domain of the ads site to my host file in windows and register it to 127.0.0.1 or 0.0.0.0
example : 0.0.0.0 annoyingads.com

this method works for a long time until several days ago when i notice the ads is back in my steam store page.
i check my host file and i can see the ads domain is still registered to 0.0.0.0
and when i open my web browser i can access their web even though i "block" it in the host file

any idea why i can still access their domain in browser ?
i am using windows 7 64bit

nevermind, problem solved
appearantly there are many way for a host file to stop working

try searching your problem with host file here :
http://serverfault.com/questions/452268/hosts-file-ignored-how-to-troubleshoot
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/6995c4eb-f4a3-43b2-83ec-8fe8b4e2c00c/hosts-file-not-working?forum=w7itpronetworking

what i did is disabling windows DNS client service and turning off and on the IPv4 and IPv6 in network adapter

Scripts can also be blocked with NoScript or similar add-ons.
