Yes it hooks up the same way into the pci e slot then plug in correct power plug, the 1060 only uses about 120w which is less than the old gtx570 219w.

The ^ q9550 4ghz with gtx970 which is a hair below the gtx 1060 3GB.
With that CPU from 2008, most likely gonna bottleneck GTX 1060, someone tested it with RX 480, and it bottleneck. The GTX 1060 and RX 480 are similar.

I can't believe someone charged you that much for it, TBH. For that price I'd expect at least an older model i3 or i5.
The Q9x50s where superior compared to the Q8xxx the Q8xxx were pretty much a failure.
Now for how much he got the whole system for, is a great price, and can play all the games with a good GPU, but will be limited to the number performance it can push out.
Core 2 Quad sells for $50 on Ebay, GTX 570 sells for $30. Total value of the PC is more like $100 or 90 euros. 220 euros is a ripoff, lol.
I was just saying ^.
Ultimately the guy would've been better off with an i3 6100 but he's got a q9650 so that's what he's got to work with so he can sit there and be bummed out over the lack of performance from the gtx570 or pop in a gtx 1060 3GB and have some bottlenecking going on but be better off in the short run with the fps climb.
Ps, what's the point of harping on his mistake and making him feel worse I'm sure he learnt and won't do it again.

About par with the 965BE ^.

A little behind the FX6300 ^.
I understand, and also it's better to inform him than mislead, or not mention his issue ahead of time, before he makes any more future purchases, to throw more money at the machine, then he has to, if he wants to upgrade everything at a much later time, then it would be ok to get a GTX 1060, but if he has no plans to do so, it's best to inform.
Hmm. It says hp xw4600 workstation on the case. It is a pretty big one so i think there is room. I dont remember the power supply but it was around 450-500w. 8gb of ddr ecc ram. Hewlet packard 786F3 v01.34 <- I believe that is the motherboard?
I dont mind bottlenecking that graphics card. I'll propably take it slow and upgrade it from there. I found out that amd makes decent priced prosessors but when I buy a new one i should also buy a new motherboard. I'll MAYBE overclock (when and if i properly learn) this q9650 abit maybe to 3,5-3,7ghz if it works out well. I saw a post that said that hp moherboards aint supporting overclocking so we will see about that.
I didnt buy this from a store. It was the cheapest one I found from a used market. I dont mind if the seller took 50-70€ over the price of the parts, otherwise it would be a profitable deal. For me all the games I've played have worked well, I dont mind lowering the settinga down abit, Alien:Isolation, battlefield 4, Dirt rally, CS:GO have runned really well (for me) but I just bought the origin access and tried battlefield 1 ( I did not buy it, origin acces lets you play it for 10hours ) and well it is playable on lowest settings but Id like it to run atleast the same way than battlefield 4 which runs on custom video settings (everything else is low except the texture and terrain details are on high) around 40-60 fps.
I'll maybe upgrade next the MB and the prosessor. Also psu if necessary, then add ram to 16gb. But it will take time for me to invest on it. Any suggestions on good psu, MB and prosesser I'd really appreciate! Low budget is good budget for me. I dont mind lowering the settings on games and if I can play most games over 30 and up to 60 fps im happy.
I'll start with the graphics card for now :)
And keep in mind I used to play games with acer aspire v5-561 laptop, 1,7ghz i3 with intel hd graphics card 4400, 8gb of ram so for me this is really a noticable upgrade :)
If you plan later down the road, you only need to change CPU, Mobo, and maybe the RAM, depending if you want DDR4 and getting a sky/kaby lake CPU. Everything else seems very good, even the PSU is fine for the watts.
For now I say the GTX 1060 will be fine.
The 1060 has a TDP of 120, while the 570 TDP is 219, about 99watts off from apart, meaning not only you will get better performance, but use less power consumption.
That is good to know!
