Corsair link buggy or are CPUID and Afterburner lying to me?
Hello Fellas, just about had a panick attack earlier, had to boot down my PC just to assure there was no damage, I would like to first start off by saying sorry if this is a duplicate, i made a thread here earlier and I dont see it, so i'm making another one.

I noticed after idling in DayZ standalone for about an hour, maybe an hour and a half my Corsair h100i gtx waterblock was lighting up in red (for the first time ever i'd like to point out) which was set to do so at 45c. I constantly have temps in afterburner AND CPUID that have package temps in the 50's 60's and generally hover in the 50's during games, but just idiling in DayZ I noticed it was all lit up red, and I freaked out initially, then checked my CPUID and Afterburner temps, nothing had gone past 55c, and so I checked C-link, not reporting accurate temps since i was alt tabbed at this point, but I saw it was set to light up red at 45c (which it never does) and so I changed it to 65c. It stayed red for a solid minute before going back to blue, but I booted my PC down just to ensure no damage was done, and now i'm here on it typing this up.

So my question is, has CPUID been lying to me this whole time along with afterburner? or did C-Link have a meltdown?

Regardless of this, I still have plans to RMA the cpu (already got the rma) and get a new cooler, but until that happens, should I worry or should I be fine?

Your previous thread is here:

What are your full hardware specs?
Can you post the CPUID CPU-Z Validation URL Link?
Please ensure prior to a submit you tick the Extreme-OC box; this puts a slight load on your CPU so the submit captures your correct load frequency. Otherwise your CPU clock will not be accurate due to SpeedStep.

Best bet is not turning off a PC when Temps are high still (above 60*C or so); close out anything that puts a load on it (if the system is stable, and not auto-rebooting) and then allow the Fans and such to cool down the components prior to a Shutdown.

If you have Intel CPU; those temps are all quite cool actually.

Corsair Link is known to be buggy.

If CPU-Z and Afterburner are telling the same story, I'd be more inclined to trust them. Nothing wrong with the temps you've mentioned.

It's best to just run the cooler off the mobo, completely bypassing the need for any software.

The Pump plugs into the CPU Fan Header; followed by a separate daisy chain of plugs for powering any extra Radiator Fans. Most Motherboards simply would not have enough 3/4pin Fan Headers to accommodate them AND your Case Fans too. Which is why AIO-LQ usually provide such a method for those extra fans.

Ensure Corsair Link is up-to-date from here (Corsair Link Software 4.3.0.154 09/14/2016)

Ensure your USB Drivers are up-to-date as well.
Try using this to check for updated USB Drivers for both 2.0 / 3.0 Chipsets.

I know how the coolers function. And you can easily connect everything, as long as you don't have a low end board with only a couple of headers.

Okay, let's say he has a budget board with a cpu fan, aux, and one case fan header. Typically, headers have plenty of power for more than one fan... even on junk boards. So, he should at least be able to use the rad with two fans and have two case fans. And this is about worst case. He could then easily get a sata to 3/4pin header adapter to expand.

Bottom line... the software is garbageware, just like pretty much all "gaming" software. They put very little development or resources into the software, or even get a 2nd party to make the software.

I personally would not recommend using a program to update drivers. This honestly should be done manually.

It uses MiniUSB to Internal USB2.0 Header

That is how Corsair Link reads any of those Corsair product models that end in "i"
They offer PSUs that allow full monitoring as well.

You have trust issues; that has nothing to do with this.

But yes, dual 3pin adapters to a single header is usually fine.

What do you mean by trust issues? It is simply better to do it manually. I always stay away from anything automatic. No sense in it when you simply go download the driver you need from the manufacturer's website.

It's not automatic; PWM is automatic. Corsair Link allows full manual control.

What? The automatic comment was about the driver installer that you linked..

i don't have a low end board.

Idk if you'd call it medium or high end but it was $200 and it was what i got instead of a Z170 deluxe, which would have been un-necessary. (Asus Maximus VIII Hero)

How many headers do you have?

You should give going without Corsair Link a try. Just connect the pump into a header and then the fans into their own header(s), using a Y cable if needed. Then simply control via BIOS. Run the pump at full speed DC, then setup a fan curve or static speed for the fans. Nothing else from the AIO needs to be connected.

Might like it better than using Corsair Link. I know I do.

I never use corsair link, I just opened it because I know in there I have it set to change colors when it gets hot, then just forgot about it (since it never got red.)

It's set to assume pump/fans at a certain temp but it's not what i mainly use for that or for taking temps, I was planning to delete it anyway.

So, you do use Corsair Link.

You should try going without it sometime. Nothing to lose and you might like it better.

It should maintain the LED color, even after you delete the program.

If you have Corsair Link installed, period... then it has a Windows Service for talking to the hardware via the USB cable. So yes if you not going to use it, get rid of it completely.
