Anyone still using?
Anyone out there still using an old CRT, or cathode ray tube, monitor? For you younger people those are the old big, heavy and deep, vacuum tube monitors we older adults used in the Windows 3.1 and 98 days. And anyone still using a three and a half inch floppy? Last is there a chance someone might still be using the old school modems? Those are the only old school computer things people might still be using I can think of. Just for fun.

I got one CRT TV in storage with my old consoles I got from various places.

Light guns don't work on modern screens but they work on CRT so I have one for playing old shooter games I got like the original Nintendo red gun and duck hunt for example.

floppy disks, no.

modem, no.

i recently fixed a crt tv and snes

define modem, cable/dsl/fiber modems are still modems, but most have a router built in
most dialup modems were serial or usb or isa/pci

how about trackball?

Dialup modem. Actually I had a track ball mouse for a very long time. I did not think of that. Or how about a motherboard that still beeps after start up? That might be to old.

Right now the old computer movie War Games is all over the free TV stations on Roku. It is a good movie and is an excellent example of what using a computer was like in the mid eighties. It is very much geared for younger people so should be entertaining for everyone.

Fun fact you can still buy 3 1/2 floppy disks.

Lightguns for modern displays exist, but are rather niche.
https://sindenlightgun.com/ is the most prominent.

I remember reading about others, but can't find any current info, so maybe they were cancelled.

I keep meaning to get a Sinden Lightgun and play Lethal Enforcers just to spite that dirty liar, Joseph LIEberman, but my budget is tight.

all mobo can beep if you plug in the pc speaker, not many have them built into the board

a long time ago sound cards had a pc speaker input to so it would beep through the headphone output
and also cd/dvd drive analog in to allow redbook (cd/dvd drive playing audio) not software but using the hardware decoder on the odd

No, but I did grow up with them. Your thread inspired me to search for this (skip ahead a bit):

nop but them old arcade CRT,s sell for crazy cash on places like E-bay
I used one until around the very early 2010s. It was an IBM P275 21" (aperture grille, or "Trinitron" style). My first aperture grille was some 15" Gateway before that and it made me fall in love with them around the time the early 5:4 LCDs were becoming common in the mid 2000s. It started developing an issue and I'm forgetting exactly what it was, but I was fearing it was on its way out and that I was better off doing the inevitable and moving to LCD. I both miss and don't miss that CRT. Likewise, I both loved and didn't love the LCD I got, which is the very same one I'm still using.

Older games aren't the same. I love that we have all these HD remasters/remakes (and need more!) but all of the old ones that never got it just aren't the same. Looking back, I basically stopped emulating/playing all low resolution source content when I moved to LCD. Maybe/hopefully OLED will get better and be promising in some regards of what we lost with CRTs but resolution flexibility won't be one of them.

The last time I had a floppy drive probably would have been my Dimension 4100. I never particularly used it much. I also miss that PC.

I never had one of the old dial up modems, at least not the ones you're probably referring to. The earliest I used was an internal PCI modem.

Awesome I am invyious, a Commodore 64. I wonder how many people know the 64 in Commodore 64 does not mean bits or 64 bits like a CPU. It in fact means 64 kilobytes of system memory not megabytes or gigabytes but kilobytes.

There was also AMR and CNR slots, (audio modem riser and communications network riser).
