As 570 is not really much better than GTX 960, so you're upgrading to a 570 really wouldn't go very far for the money spent.
Plenty of GTX 980 Ti around for cheap as well. Even EVGA has some on their site under Product > B-Stock
Which would easily go toe to toe with most GTX 1070 out there.
That isn't a very good deal actually. I bought this exact card from Amazon on Oct. 14th for $288 ($425 CDN for me after duties/tax/shipping). That card is over $500 CDN with taxes ($369 USD x 1.35 = $500 + tax/duties). I can get it here for about $50 less, but it's 3 times more than the 570 I'm looking at. Remember, this is for my 12 year old son to play at 1080p. A 1070 is way overkill. I'm asking about the MSI Armor card specifically.
Actually the 570 goes toe-to-toe with the GTX 1060...slightly slower in most games. Twice as fast as the 960, which is the same as a 1050ti. Check the many benchmarks out there. I don't want used cards and as I said, I have a 1070 and it is huge overkill for 1080p and is triple the price. I just upgraded my 1060 3GB (gave it to my other son) so I could get the 8GB so I can play DCS stutter-free.
I was thinking of the 580, but they are such power hogs it would require a new power supply too. The 980 ti is an even bigger power hog, and the cheapest I see on Ebay is almost $400 CDN...way too much.
This is a PC I'm building with my extras from my upgrades...I just don't think the ASUS GTX 950 (which was a great card) will be good enough when you can get an 8GB 570 for so cheap (almost $100 CDN cheaper than the cheapest 580 right now). GTX 1060 is more than double the cost too, or I'd get another of those.
General benchmarks have been pretty clear about that.
Anyways look at the 980 Ti option, it is very good beefy GPU still.
Yes, on-par with 1060 6GB, not 3GB. I have checked over 20 benchmarks, new and old...very clear. The 570 actually beats the 1060 in certain games, and keeps a pretty consistent 50-60fps in 1080p in almost everything. As I said, used 980 ti is more than double the price and would require a power supply upgrade, further increasing the cost.
why does a GTX 980 Ti require a PSU upgrade? Do you got a 400W or betetr PSU? Then you dont.
There alwas some games that prefer a certain GPU brand because of optimization. Some games getting activly supported during development by AMD and others by Nvidia (majority of special supported games). Nothing new but this isnt the norm.
Dont know where you live, but where I live a use GTX 980 Ti cost about 2/3 of the price of a new GTX 1060 6GB and other countries I checked aswell.
USED on Ebay, even cheaper. If I had to choice, 980 Ti every time cause it will run circles around 1060 6GB
Cheapest 980 ti I see on Ebay is $340 CDN ($250 USD) with import fees and shipping, and that hasn't ended yet. I'd also have to add about $60 CDN for a new power supply, so AT LEAST $400 for a USED 980ti. That's $179 for the 570 or at least $400 for a 980 ti. Way smarter to get a 1070 ti for under $500 CDN right now if I was going that way. He doesn't need all that power for a 1080p system.
I am going to wait and see what the 580 cards do as they are dropping in price every day on Newegg.ca. They need to get down to about $230 CDN before they're worth it though as I'm only getting a 10 - 25% performance increase vs the 570 depending on the game...and I'd need a new power supply.
That Thermaltake one needs to go in the trash. It's not suitable for todays ATX standards or safe-guards, let alone power hungry GPUs.
