These apps are designed to cause troubles and trying to force you to keep using or even pay for them.
Stop downloading stuff from (potential) malicious websites.
That's how you prevent it.
But hey, don't take my word for it.
It's been more than 17 years since i had malicious software.
i'm only using Windows Security AKA Windows Defender.
It does what it needs to do without bsod
okay firstly. adwcleaner is made by malwarebytes and i've been using the malwarebytes antivirus for a while and adwcleaner is completely free.
malwarebytes is also free but it does have a premium subscription but it's fine as long it still protects me from malware. tbh it's better than mcafee since it doesn't give false positives and doesn't spam you with offers and stuff.
secondly. the app gave a warning to close all processes that's running and there's a chance that the app accidentally closed one of the programs that are for windows and caused a process error bsod. it does not give me any virus or anything.
ALSO i found the answer how to fix it.
you basically just have to go to settings, scroll down to cleaning options and then uncheck "terminate all processes before cleaning" it's literally that simple.
Malwarebytes is probably "okay" but I wouldn't use it. I mean why would you? What's it gonna do? Windows built-in security system is enough.
I think the last time I used Malwarebytes was when I used windows XP. That was back in 2010. CCleaner I wouldn't let anywhere near my PC, and if I used a computer with Norton on it it was time reinstall windows.
I use 2 on-demands and two tiny supplemental security software in addition to Defender b/c I know what the weak points are. It's quite remote that I'd get infected but never impossible b/c anyone can mis-click at any time. Up to you what you run on your device but I don't really think it's "useless" to run MB alongside Defender, esp. if your online behaviors tend to be risky.
This bugcheck (which by the way should have been green looking at your specs) means one of the base Windows NT processes was terminated, and the kernel triggers the STOP code.
Your build is a Windows Insider Preview build (which this week has been replaced with a new build), so you may want to discuss this in a Windows Insiders forum.
I'm sorry for necroposting, but reading that statement just makes me cringe.
Is that REALLY your suggestion? "Stop downloading stuff from (potential) malicious websites."? That's like if someone accidentally ate a contaminated food (that they didn't know it was contaminated), they go ill, and you say to them: "You shouldn't had eat bad stuff". That is just dumb as hell.
Malware is pretty much common these days, even if you didn't download any software, Malware doesn't need to be destructive, malware could also be used to log your private information whether it's on a website or your local computer In fact, you could even call website trackers or Microsoft Edge "malware" depending on how you see it.
You also misunderstood between an adware or a malware. Adwcleaner isn't named Adwcleaner for nothing. It literally stands for Adware Cleaner, not Malware Cleaner, those are very different from each other. Adwcleaner is designed to... well... clean adware, which ranges from stuff installed from computer OEMs or a downloaded program. Adwcleaner itself is completely free and made by Malwarebytes, which in itself is also free although, it has some premium features locked behind a paywall, but regardless the free version is still capable for malware removal.
In my opinion, one of the "apps are designed to cause troubles and trying to force you to keep using or even pay for them." is McAfee, which i would 100% agree. I've used that program and it was a horrible experience.
I've had experience too with Windows Defender. I downloaded a totally harmless E-book Flash executable I got from my teacher, and Windows Defender flagged it as harmful, while Malwarebytes flagged it harmless. Maybe it had a security hole inside the Flash program? But that was in 2019, before Flash's death in December 31st 2020.
It's not just this time I've gotten a false positive from Windows Defender, I got tons of them. So I just permanently disable Windows Defender and just use Malwarebytes because it's more trustable.
