Why did windows 10 suddenly install Spotify?
I mean I never use it, and now it kept appearing in my taskbar out of the blue...

Is this part of an update?

I disabled it btw, I was just curious. I don't want extra apps running without my knowledge.

It was installed in the latest update to the OS. I have it in Windows 11 as well. Just more bloatware for those of us that don't use it.

God, I hate it when they do that...

If I want bloatware I can just turn on my smartphone or tablet... But not on my PC, not needed.

Just uninstall any extra unwanted apps/games that MS may have pushed to your machine.

Open Task Manager, go to the startup tab/section, and disable Spotify.

Got it on a domain account in Windows 11, seems they changed the behavior for domain users to start allowing pushing promotional apps.

It's a trend to install a bunch of unused, unnecessary bloated programs that you never asked for... expect more of it on Windows from Microsoft.

Id rather install steam os 3.0 and hopefully Valve occupy the space wasted by microbloat.

I said it for years, Microsoft are defunct for gaming. Gaming need a stable slim OS. Windows is bloated multipurpose trash for mobile tablet printing and office trash.

You are kidding yourself. Like it or not Windows has been and will continue to be the go to OS for gaming. With the Steam Deck install base you might see some developers with Linux ports but if you want to sell the most copies you develop for Windows, period.
And this is why i'll never install winbloat 11.

You don't "need" a slim OS for gaming; what YOU need to do is learn how to configure whatever OS you end up using for what's best for YOU. If it means using Win10 or 11, so be it. Windows is best for gaming, we all know this to be true. Linux for many won't be very straight-forward when it comes to gaming, in fact is a heck of a chore to get most games to run well on Linux.

But with Windows OS, yes you will have to configure it so it to a point where you don't have unwanted startup apps and services. But learn what they are and do because some services are needed and turning them off can cause many other things to then not function properly, or at all.

Wrong... You need a slim "to the metal" OS like you need a API. You need a slimOS like Sony has or like Vulkan is to API. You cant configure windows to be slimline anymore since win7. Ive tried and failed. It simply forces updates and you have to repeat the process after a while. Windows has full control now over the OS not the user.

Unless someone complied a .bat file its literally a 2-3 hour job or more for me it takes about four hours to get windows where i reckon it should be. Then Microsoft release updates that somehow even when i stripped out the updater manages to give me a timer that will force said updates. Even new Nvidia generations ask for updates. You cant simply update and tweak you need to do a full format.

SteamOS would have none of this bloat i reckon, And its the only single hope we have as ive explained the headache i have with windows. What kind of hell would that be to a layman in Linux? Most people cant tweak windows if i failed they have zero hope. So irs best to abandon that pile of bloatware unless you enjoy your yearly format and tracking down the latest bat files. Do Playstation users spend hours every year fixing Playstation OS? No because its a gaming OS not an office and printing OS. They also get better performance out of the hardware by having less software overheads and so a lower latency higher fps experience than windows could offer in a 1:1 scenario.

Bloat? With an SSD bloat goes away.
Bloat hasn't been a thing in a long time unless you use a normal harddrive for the boot drive.

You could install hundred of extra programs onto the Pc and I doubt you'd find a difference in FPS in a game.

LinusTechTips tried to see if bloat was a thing but the results where so close to each other that even in CSGO with like 400+ FPS there might have been a 5 FPS difference. Keyword "Might" because it was hard to tell.
