PSU Loud Buzzing/Vibrating
My power supply makes a loud noise on start up. If I give it a whack it stops, I'm wondering if it is the fan or something else?

how old is it?
brand/model?

use a ziptie in the fan to see if its spinning and stop it for a few seconds to see if thats the source of the noise

About 5 years old Corsair CX600M

I stuck a ziptie in and it stopped the fan and the noise. So I guess I'll replace that and see how it goes.

most psu fans are easy to replace

if you do not feel safe about soldering wires, use a fan header on the mobo or molex fan for it

Did you buy a cheap PSU from like eBay? Because before my old crappy PSU blew, I always had to smack the side of my PC to make the fan stop making a super loud noise and vibrating the entire system. If you did buy a cheap one, get rid of it. Buy something quality. I bought this Corsair RMi 1000 WATT fully modular PSU, it was super expensive and overkill but I've had no issues and the fan is still quiet as hell. If you did buy a quality PSU, then do what the other people in this thread recommended.

Best to replace the PSU, CX series is not the greatest to begin with and 5 years is pretty much what you would expect from it.

I'll probably replace the fan for now and get a new PSU next year as I'm planning on building a new rig anyway.

Thanks for all the help :)
