4+ghz on modern hardware (fx at 4ghz is not enough)
laptops have low clocked cpus with high max turbo, but limit turbo clocks to core usage and will throttle when hot
will not be enough for pcsx2 demands
a laptop cooling pad will help, but it will be better to use a desktop cpu/gpu for pcsx2
which could also stream it to the laptop

but many game cd/dvds are still around
even if you have an old console, not many new tvs have analog inputs (composite) or have horrible input lag since they need to convert the analog signal to digital
its discussing copying the discs or sharing iso files thats not allowed
pcsx2 also needs a ps2 bin fine from the console to run properly
bro, nes, snes, atari and pretty much everything else is older. Can we talk about those?.
This whole post looks crazy wrong to me (not trying to be a jerk, just trying to get you to maybe re-think if you're right or not). Maybe, I'm wrong but I have a feeling this thread will get locked as soon as a mod wakes up.

Well, Retroarch itself is just the front end so maybe that's why. But, maybe you're right. If this thread stays open until tomorrow, I'll take it emulators are ok now. Not trying to ask op where he got his iso just yet.
Well, if he's playing off the actual optical drive, then no wonder he's hiccupping. If he made the iso itself from an optical disc then the answer to where he got his .iso is he got it from the actual legitimate PS2 game. Almost seems like you implied I implied he downloaded it illegally.
odds are hes using a disc image (if its a usb odd that will be the problem, but only when loading data from it)
pcsx2 takes alot of cpu, its more likely its the cpu throttling, and returning to normal/turbo states when cool enough, then back to throttle
Op, create ISO of your disc and run from it, should be better. Also play around with "Fast CDVD" in Speedhacks section - it helps some games and breaks some other. "MTVU" can also cause hanging, as it says under that setting.
Are you sure it's PCSX2 you're talking about? My i5-2500 runs every game I triet at the exact framerate it should at 300% EE cyclerate.
I'm starting to believe this. Ok. I learned something new today.
also what games are ya try'n to run?
