How can I completely remove screen burn in on my tv?

Often when I leave my screen on the same image for a long time, it causes screen burn in. To try and get rid of it, I used colour wash/white wash but they didn't do anything.

If it’s an plasma or CRT TV you’ll need to run a White Static (read “snow”) loop for 12 to 24 hours on it. Just hook up your PC and find a TV “snow” gif.

If it’s an LCD leave the unit off for a few hours.

even being off for years will not fix it
and snow or pattern cycling just adds screen burn to random dots evenly

inverting the burned image would be the only 'fix' by burning the opposite pixels the same as the already burnt ones

On a CRT it’s impossible to fix. However, the static snow for 24 hours should work. The article I linked to also provides another tool.

If it's image retention, it's temporary. Burn-in is permanent on plasma displays.
