What do you think of my new build?
What do you like/dislike about it or suggest changing.

ohh ok yea, i've also encountered this problem with my build i'm not sure if you know what it means. I paired my m.2 storage with a sata storage on pc part picker and got this message.

The motherboard M.2 slot #1 shares bandwidth with SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports. When the M.2 slot is populated, two SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports are disabled.
The motherboard M.2 slot #2 shares bandwidth with a SATA 6.0 Gb/s port. When the M.2 slot is populated, one SATA 6.0 Gb/s port is disabled.

the lower part of that message leaves me thinking that the m.2 will work alongside a sata, aslong as the m.2 is in the #2 slot. and that it wont work with sata if its in the #1 slot because both sata ports will be disabled. what does this mean?

CPU: Why pay 50$ more for an i7-9700K when it's 50$ more expensive than the 8700K, is barely more powerful, and doesn't have hyperthreading which makes little difference in gaming and less beneficial for streamers?

Cooler: What size? You'd want at least a 280mm or 360mm CLC for better cooling performance on such a hot CPU lineup.

M.2 SSD: Is that the system drive? Get a 250GB instead for just the OS and get a 1TB SATA SSD for game storage.

Case: That case doesn't have the greatest airflow in the front. I would instead recommend a case with a more open front panel that doesn't restrict airflow. An example is the Cooler Master MasterCase Pro 5, which I use, and taking the front panel off that has no difference in temperatures whereas with restrictive cases that look nice, you take off that panel and the temperatures can drop up to 10 C or more.

I don't stream or ever plan to stream, alot of the talk about the cpu running hot under these ridiculous stress tests don't worry me because I will not be using these programs for any of that. The cooler might need to be that big if you're trying to keep a lower temp during those tests but for playing total war, wildlands, siege or gta5 and overwatch on ultra settings at 1080p or even just counter strike, I don't think I'm going to have an issue with temps. The cooler I chose is listed there and it has 240mm fans. The M.2 is going to have the OS on it aswell as some of my main games. I wanted the 1tb because I don't want to have to delete this game and install that game and etc. I chose the case mostly because not only is it simple and nice in my opinion but also really cheap and figured it would work fine seeing as how I really doubt my cpu is going to run any higher than 80 degrees even with this tower/cooling option. I live in a very cold place and don't stream or run benchmarks or stress tests or any of these things people are hitting these cpu's hard with. To be honest I dont even know what hyperthreading is and I really don't even need a new computer. All I really needed more than anything was an additional 8gb of ram and another 2gb of video ram. My monitors aren't even meant for a pc like this. I just wanted something specifically for great 1080p gaming that would be able to handle 1440p gaming and maybe even 4k if I ever bother with it. I've read alot about these cpu's being hot or whatever and how alot of this new computer ♥♥♥♥ isn't worth the extra money for such slight performance increases. But there's alot of people who just game and that's it who aren't going to be maxing out their temps or worrying about an extra 50 bucks for barely anything at all. From what I understand hyperthreading is related to overclocking or some ♥♥♥♥? I'm not sure... There's no doubt in my mind that a spent a few hundred bucks more than I needed too but I'm not worried about this thing getting too hot considering what I'll be using it for. All the overclocking stuff doesn't appeal to me either, it's just kinda there.. This is my first build by the way so if I didn't perfect it in terms of price vs performance I'll definitely have more time as the years go on with it to make sure I learn more about this ♥♥♥♥ and pick all the right stuff for a better build. You've brought the cooling situation to my attention though and I'm going to be watching the temps as I game to see if there's an issue with that. If hyperthreading is a crucial thing to have nowadays then I should definitely look into that a bit more to understand what it is but the CPU I chose already has twice as many cores as my current one and is probably going to be alot better than the one I'm using now. From alot of what I've read about the 9700, people have used these crazy stress tests on their ♥♥♥♥ and only hit 85 degrees and usually get 50-60 degrees under loads.

With all that said though I think I really didn't need that m.2 and probably could have found a better case like the h700 like the other dude suggested. I'm considering returning the m.2 and the case and going with something different but I'm okay with leaving the 240mm fans and the ram I picked. I really didn't need anything I picked. I'm actually going to have to worry about tearing and ♥♥♥♥ now lol, I also probably picked the worst year, and worst time of year to buy any of this ♥♥♥♥. But I've been gaming alot lately and have recently been getting into wildlands and siege and the 2gb video memory is just terrible. I wanted a significant upgrade and not just a little extra something. But now I need a better display... ffs

And on another note, I ditched the gskill trident 16 gb ram and bought the corsair rgb vengeance pro ram at 32 gb. I've never needed more than 8gb and should probably only get 16 but 32 is going to make the inside glow nicer. ♥♥♥♥ it dood, next is the tower and perhaps that m.2 gonna see what i can do about that.

A few notes, unless you find a 1080 Ti cheap, which is unlikely now, just go with a 2080, the vram won't really be an issue and it's around 5% faster overall, with recent updates Ray tracing seems viable on it also.

Unless you have found a great deal on that psu, drop down to the gold variant and save quite a bit of cash.

The 9700k is faster and better than the 8700k in pretty much every way, this is because cores are better than threads.

The case lacks airflow which will lead to the system running a bit warmer, I'd check out the lian li 011 dynamic, go with the corsair h150i 360mm cooler.

You don't need 32GB of ram, if you want all 4 slots filled for looks, corsair just launched vengeance rgb dummy sticks for 40 bucks a pair.
bannedy 2018 年 12 月 16 日 下午 2:37
I thought the psu was overkill but it turns out if I went with a lower one I would of paid about 10-30 bucks more in most cases and this was one readily available at the time but only for prime members so I activated a prime trial in order to get it. The case apparently relies on negative pressure to exhaust the hot air and will have a water cooled aio along with the 2 other fans built into the case to get the air out, it's also designed to "vacuum" in the air along the other parts of the case and even past the gpu. Gamer Nexus and some other pc building channels I watched mentioned that this case works suprisingly well in terms of cooling. I'm going to be checking the temps though and If I feel it's just not cool enough then I'm going to return the case or even just put all the parts in this current pc over in that one. This way I can have a look at exactly what stuff I got in this one because I got it years ago as a pre built and it still has an i5-4440 3.1 ghz with a gtx 960 msi 2gb and 8gb ram and 2tb sata hdd with a 450w silverstone psu. I would want to move that stuff into the h500 and add 8gb ram to it and keep my eye out for a 4gb gpu or even a little better so I can still use that computer. I'm not sure If I'll bother upgrading this slightly older computer and keep it or just give it to a buddy. Might just return the h500 case if the temps aren't good enough. I don't believe the 360mm cooler would fit in this case but I'm not so sure and I'll check it out. aparently this aio is 2 120mm fans and not a 240mm pair of fans like I thought but apparently this build hasn't had issues with temps in this particular case/cooling setup. I'll see if that cooler will work with this case. I'll also check out those dummy sticks.

Apparently the cooler you suggested isn't available for this case. My only concern on this build is the temps so I'm going to check it closely and make sure that isn't a problem. This build has been done before and the cooling doesn't seem to be an issue and the videos claiming how hot this stuff gets are probably just because of the intense stress tests people are doing on them and even so not all of these stress tests are putting out as much heat as some of the ones other people are doing.

Money isn't the biggest issue and I'd prefer to have all new components. I'm willing to pay a bit more for better stuff that is new. I understand the cpu and gpu don't offer much more than the more popular 8700K 1080ti setup, but without considering the price differences would you say the i7 9700k 2080 rtx setup is WORSE than the 8700k 1080ti setup in terms of performance? If the performance between the two is practically the same then I'm okay with the more recent hardware, but if your talking in terms of price vs performance and say that the newer setup is worse then I'm not too concerned.
No, its not worse by any means. You're just gonna pay more for roughly the same performance. If you wanna go w/ the components that you have listed, i'd only look into getting an NZXT Kraken over the corsair (Kraken Case + Cooler will look nice) and ditch the logitech gaming headset and get a pair of DT990s/pro and a mod mic and either the newest sound blaster card w/ the dedicated headphone amp (AE3) or something with a headphone amp to drive the headset. The audio difference really is fantastic. The RAM is preference really, but I'd take a look at the corsair first if RGB is your thing.
Pay more? Doubt it. Considering the 1080TI is out of stock on Amazon, and only 1 is left new, which cost 1,600 dollars which is more expensive then the 2080TI new. A 2080 is around 700 USD new for the same amount of performance right as of now. So if he doesn't want to go on Ebay and get anything used getting a 2080 new is probably the most logical thing to do. The CPU on the other hand I guess that would be his choice. If he wants a really new CPU then sure, he should go for it since money isn't an issue.

Yea that's basically why I went with this stuff, I'm only worried about alot of the statements regarding load temperatures but I also see alot of people getting 65 degrees or so under load which is fine IMO. Whats cool about the rgb ram is that you can set it to change color based on the temps so if they turn red I'll know it's not good but there's also other ways to do it. This build has been done before and works great apparently so I'm going to see how it goes. I should have everything pretty soon.

You can literally spend half of what I did and get some really good 1080p gaming for sure. I just thought that I didn't want to make the same mistake as last time and buy some entry level 2gb vram setup that is going to struggle with all the new games even in low settings, specifically ghost recon wildlands which I'm really getting into plus other games.

Great. But having an overkill build isn't bad. Some people don't agree with overkill as such as the other guy who told you otherwise, I mean hell, if you got the money and want 64GB of ram, do it. There's no shame. If I remember correctly your socket is LGA 1151 which supports at max, 64 GB. You want 2080's in SLI? Do it. It's not a bad thing to go overkill. Some people disagree. I'm not one of those.

I definitely agree and I love the fact that I'll easily be able to expand on this build unlike my other one. Canada computers is going to respond with my cancellation request of the trident z ram and I'll probably just fill the slots with the white vengeance pro rgb 3600mhz ram to get really fast 32gb ram and lots of lighting and never having to worry about ram again. I like to run alot of things at once and toggle off screen to my other monitor to watch stuff and run other programs when I'm forced to spectate in game and I'm sure 16gb ram will do fine with that but 32gb would be dope. I'm already looking at some 1440p 144hz gsync monitors and might make one of them my main, keep a 1080p panel for other stuff on the side, leave one of my panels at my buddies for when I bring my ps4 and fighting games over to his house and get drunk, and probably just give him this computer and my old gaming keyboard and mouse and let him run it off the display I can let him borrow so he basically has a free build and can take a break from ps4 lol. There's no better way to get someone off of console gaming than to give them pc ♥♥♥♥ for free.

I'm glad to hear, have fun. I'm still stuck on the LGA 1150 socket and I already have the fastest CPU. But to be honest, if anything go with the i7 9900K. It should work with your socket. 8 cores, 16 threads. It's a fast CPU. And it turbos up to 5.0 GHz. But that's just me, I would get that one. It's your choice though. Any have fun building it.
