Strix GTX 1060 6gb/Strix RX 580 8gb on this PSU
I already have a PSU, Corsair VS450 and dont have budget for a new psu. I dont know if this will be able to run both cards.

The specs are:

i3 4160
8gb ram
2hhd 7.2rpm
3 rgb omega nova 2 spectrum fans

Of course I will prefer the RX580 since it has the higher vram which will really help me when it comes to editing in After Effects, I once used a gtx1050ti and I thinks 4gb is not that enough from what I am doing.

PS: I am just a student who is studying and still learning new skills so money dont come that much. :( Also, the only games Iam playing is dota 2 and LoL. Multimedia apps using are MAINLY, Photoshop, Illustrator and very minor use of AE and Premiere because I am still learning it. Also, this setup is just a gift...

1050ti is 75w
1060 6g = 120w
rx 580 = 185w

the i3 is a very low wattage cpu <65w

hdd <10w
fans <5w

the rx 580 alone with the build would be pushing it with the 450w psu

if its a gift, just put in the 1050ti and call it a day

The 1050ti is only a borrowed card to complete my projects. So the 1060 is a wiser choice compared to rx 580?

I dont really trust psu calculators that much since they say most of them is not accurate at all and also they say that the most accurate is to actually use a watt meter
ok, ya the 1060 6g uses alot less power and would be a better card to pair with the psu
GTX 1060 will work fine with 450W PSU. Just make sure that card you are gone buy will fit inside the case lenghtwise.
Thank you guys for your feedbacks! I really appreciate it. I will get the 1060 first then if ever I earned enough money. Ill buy some good PSU and get the RX580

No point getting RX 580 later, it has same performance as GTX 1060 6GB.

The difference maker is only the vram? Will the 1060 be able to play all current AAA games in high?

You wont see much difference at all between those, both can play modern games on 1080p monitor with high/ultra around 60 fps.

Yes, I do have a GTX 1060 6GB G1 gaming. Which is absolutely good for 1080P gaming and consumes alot less power compare to RX580. You'll get 45-50 avg FPS in modern AAA titles with high-ultra settings (Tested with games such as Wildlands, AC, etc)
aaa gaming with dual-core i3 and 8gb ram?
for lol and dota even a gtx 750 ti would be plenty...

"Adobe has been making increasing use of the GPU over the last several years, but After Effects is overall much more reliant on the speed of your CPU. While it is important to have a supported GPU, you typically will not see a large increase in performance with a higher-end model."

"While a higher-end GPU may not give significantly higher raw performance, it is essential that your video card has enough VRAM or video card memory for your projects. However, unless you have multiple 4K displays, even 4GB of VRAM should be plenty."

I am kinda future proofing hence I chosed the gtx 1060 which I can only afford now. And of cpurse I will up the cpu as well, but not right now.

Future proofing doesn't exist; You will always have to replace components at some point because they fall behind too much. It's a false term that people throw around as an excuse to spend more than they need to on a system, and it's something manufacturers love because it means they'll sell more expensive components.

All you actually need to have a great gaming system is:

- Intel i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 CPU (i.e. i5-8400, i5-9600K, Ryzen 5 2600
- An appropriately matched motherboard (Overclockable boards for overclockable CPUs)
- A decent air cooler or CLC (i.e. CM Hyper 212 EVO or CM ML240L)
- 16 GB RAM (DDR4-2400 MHz minimum for Intel, 3000 minimum for Ryzen)
- A good mid-range GPU (GTX 1060 6GB, RX 580, RTX 2060, Unrevealed RTX competitor from AMD equivalent to a 2060 or 2070)
- 120GB~250 GB M.2 NVMe SSD drive for OS, 500GB+ SATA SSD or HDD for game storage
- A quality case with plenty of fans and good airflow to minimize temperature issues
- A decent 500W+ PSU rated at least 80+ Bronze

That's all you actually need to have a good gaming experience. You don't need to spend more for an i7, Ryzen 7, i9, or Ryzen TR with 32GB+ RAM and a 2080 Ti to get a good gaming experience because you'll still get an amazing experience with less. The only reason go beyond what I recommend is for the sake of being an enthusiast, streaming games at max settings at 4K, content creation; things that demand much more than a standard gaming rig.
You could spend 10~15K on a system and it'll become outdated within 5 years, and obsolete after 10.

Since you said 500W+ and not 550W+, please list me at least 5 decent 500W PSU's(not 520 or 550W models).
