it could last for a long time, as there isn't no game i can't run on max settings with a 1080ti,
so op should be fine for some time, with a 1080
And they have 10 year warranty from EVGA.
This makes totally sense, FROM YOUR PERSPECTIVE. ;)
I was reading trough you comment and I was halfway trough at "1080ti is high end for the most point" and I thought to myself somethink like "I bet my dude owns a 1080TI" and the rest is history. xD
If a 1080TI is high end nowadays, what is a 2080TI ?
What a 3080 TI ?
3090TI ?
I own a Razr V3 from 2004. My mother bought it for me when I went to school. In your world or the planet you're living on, is my mobile phone also high end ?
What about my R9 270 ?
High end or just middle end ?
I used to have an R9 270X, and back then I'd consider it low end because it was basically on par with low end GPUs like the 1050 or 1050 Ti.
What matters isn't the hiearchy within its own generation, but what it actually compares to RIGHT NOW, that's what people care about. It's slower than a 3060 Ti, and doesn't have RT. It used to be a high end GPU, now it isn't, it's mid-range in the actual pecking order. Anyone saying otherwise is just making excuses to feel better about having one, or again, trying to scam someone. Some people do sell off low end components as high end to scam the ignorant.
No one cares about your "fun facts" dude.
the 30th gen costs too much until they make something as good as the 1080ti, costs ways.
the 10th gen as long as it's the 1080 or ti will do, tho the 1080 without the ti would be around med range, i've owned both.
also it's best to not take the piss out of anyone, because someone doesn't like waste money just because something is newer don't mean it's better aka 20gen, and given that the rtx 30gen costs way too much, even tho it's 50% faster in most cases, that cost ill wait till the 40th gen comes out
now from my point of view in the 1080p max settings\high range for that res 1440p a mix of max and high settings based on the fps you need so that'd be mid to high.
and 4k what the card is made for the ti at lest is mid to low making it a mid range card for that res
for the non t i it's be mid to low range for anything past 1080p
as for the op you'll be fine, given 1080ti are rare and rtx 20gen isn't worth it, we all hope the 40th gen costs less, or get really lucky and find someone selling there 1080ti for cheap cus there upgrading to the 30th gen

If you are talking about box office games which have been published 6-10 years ago, I agree with you.
Even a 1080TI can handle them on 1440p and maybe 4K.
But if you are talking about anything which has been published after 2018 box office wise, I'll would like to see some proof.

i've got a few games that can do, some games are more cpu bound then gpu that and i like using vulkan a lot

Nice to know others are in a similar boat, just kind of hanging there waiting for the right time, even if it's a year or years from now. It's "OK" to still have a gtx 1080.
