Can't Get Rid of VPN
A while ago i downloaded some VPN that would connect me to canada so i could play some game, and now i can't figure out how to get rid of it. Windows settings under network and internet are not showing any VPNs, and the network and sharing center only has my current internet showing up as well. But any time I use location services it pings me as Canada and my interent is very slow.

Is there any way to get rid of this? I dont remember the name of the VPN service

Check the list of actively running programs, or installed applications. Usually it's not that hard to determine which of the applications provides the VPN.
Control panel > Programs > Uninstall programs

Hopefully it'll have something to identify it, Mine has 2 programs Surfshark and Surfshark TAP driver. Just look for TAP and that should get you the name

I did, and I can't find anything. I've googled every single thing in the task manager (aside from obvious irrelevant ones) and none of them were responsible. I did the same for installed applications in control panel.

Take a screenshot of Control panel > Programs > Uninstall programs and upload it to an image sharing site then post link here. Feel free to use paint to hide anything you don't want to be seen. Hopefully someone else can more easily spot the program

I can't spot any VPN there. If it was a Windows Store installation, not specifically from the store as normal .exe can just start the process. Check Windows Settings > Apps

Again no name = awkward and MS gone the whole NOT so SMART huge **** with images nowadays so a simple screenshot = multiple because the rest of the screen is filled with HUGE useless rubbish.

Could try Searching for VPN or TAP. In my case the TAP driver from mine gets a result. That result gets me the brand Surfshark so I can then search for Surf and find both and uninstall them from there

Also uninstall any of your Wired/Wireless LAN devices (go download latest driver for them all first) and then once they are uninstalled, go to Device Manager and click the Re-Scan option. Once they are auto-installed again by WinOS, extract the files from the driver download package and run the setup.exe for each of those to install the actual official driver for your NIC devices. This will have reverted any manual settings to those device configs that the VPN program might have applied.

But yes check your Windows Store App as well and see what all is listed in there as installed.

Also double check the Extensions of any installed web browser; as the VPN app might be running through that as well.

MIght try uninstall function of CCleane
CCleaner doesn't have a VPN feature.

Do you have a 3rd party Anti-Virus suite?
It is very possible that it has a VPN feature.
It would be extremely helpful to you if you can recall the name of the vpn vendor. Mullvad? Nord? Surf Shark? That way, you can search in File Explorer for any remnants using the name. Otherwise, you can search manually in ProgramFiles, Users/AppData, etc.

A driver could still be running. First, press Windows key + r and type: services.msc. Scroll thru and look if there's a Service corresponding to the vpn. If there is, right-click on it and stop it. With the Service stopped, you can then go to its file location and delete it. Or, go into Safe Mode and delete it there.

Open Task Manager and click on the Startup tab. Is there anything related to your vpn there?

f there's no Service, this is somewhat less safe but you can look among the drivers in C:\Windows\System32\drivers. If you hover over the driver's name, you can see what it's from. If you're lucky, the driver's name is similar to the name of the vpn, maybe it would trigger your memory of it. This can be very tedious so like I said, it would help you a lot if you could remember the vpn.
Check the public IP on your router, then use a 3rd party like google to see what it gets. If it's the same, there is no VPN.
