But if you were considering paying $2000 for a gpu what you really need is to give your head a shake.

I hope you realize Quadros cost more then this lol. $2000 for a GPU isn't crazy at all. This GPU is basically the cheapest workstation suitable Quadro on the market, except it is much more optimized for gaming then productivity.

but if your into Cyberpunk 2077 then you may need it.
The game is unoptimized, I seen better looking games run better. I hate that people have to upgrade their computer because a developer does a ♥♥♥♥ job
Ya this is basically it. Better to buy $300 midrange, upgrade every 4 years to another mid range, then purchasing a $2000 GPU that probably will be considered meh in 4 years, Ex) Titan XP
The 3000s, whilst offering the performance, do so at the cost of high energy consumption, which suggests there wasn't much innovation in the design and that they were thrown out there to push ahead against AMD. It wasn't a good release either (not just availability). They had power issues where some would just blow up (lots of RMAs), Nvidia's drivers on PCIE4 were immature (still are) and they even screwed up VR. The rollout was also problematic for card manufacturers. The designs from Nvidia were delayed, which would have resulted in a rushed manufacturing process with less time to test their own designs.
There's a lot of negatives to this generation, and the problem is that the corporate smug elitist attitude has only gotten worse. I'd recommend skipping these high end cards and wait for the 4000s. Not so much for the extra performance, but in the hope that it's a better all round design.
I would also recommend not worshipping the hype and have more realistic expectations. When it comes to a lot of the hype outlets it's what they're not telling you that's important. We already know the 4000s will perform better.
From comparison.

64% faster as a miner though
I've already gone over 12gb of vram playing skyrim vr with 300 mods and that's not even a new game. 12gb isn't enough anymore for some people.
I'm interested to see how the 4000's are but the 3090's and their TI variant are some of the best we have for now.
I get about 4 x performance with my 3090 vs my 1070ti at about 2.5 x energy use.
No gpu is an investment all computer parts lose value and some people think having fun is an investment which is not true.
If you use a 3090ti to game on 1080p60Hz, it only uses a fraction of its potential and that's what they mean when they say it's overkill. It takes VR or 4k120Hz to push it to its full potential.
The 3090TI on the other hand is a good piece of craftsmanship.
Thread got already answered btw.
Its totally and a 100% subjective.
