Got prompted to download .Net Frameworks while uninstalling Rainbow six siege? Is this a virus?
Hey all I was uninstalling Siege today and while that was going on I got a windows prompt to install a version of .Net Frame works..?

Was wondering if this is normal and or why i just got hit with that while uninstalling Siege and Battleeye..?

Thanks in advance

something may have triggered steam to run its redist updates

check what versions are installed and see if the one it was trying to install was listed

im confused on what might trigger that to come up?

Is that a normal thing that might happen or? And why on an uninstall..?

So am I ok or?

installing it triggers

uninstalling might if the game tries to remove them

most of the time if they are installed it will know and skip

.NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 are preinstalled on the latest versions of Windows 10 and 11; 4.8 is always available and 3.5 is enabled by running optionalfeatures.exe and checking the box next to it.

Just seem odd that this would ask to install..on an uninstall though right?

Not sure what triggered that…I also havnt been to any sketchy sites of randomly downloaded stuff from anywhere…I just hope it’s an Offical MS download..it just popped up when rainbow was uninstalling so I clicked yes wasn’t sure if I needed it or not etc

Just hope the computers fine (sea of thieves was stuttering off and crashed and on the other night but I ran some of my usual games and they seemed to run fine) etc..

The legitimate installer in Windows 10 and 11 will say .NET Framework 3.5 and that jt includes 2.0 and 3.0. 4.8 is already installed on the latest Windows versions and cannot be serviced by redist installers.

Earlier versions of Windows 10 as well as 8.x will have earlier versions of 4.x which can be updated with a redist, as well as installing it from scratch on Windows 7.
