Using Gamesir T4 Pro with Steam Input - any way to configure paddles/change controller layout?
I have a Gamesir T4 Pro. It is recognized as an Xbox 360 controller. However, it has paddles just like the Elite controller, but I cannot reconfigure it through Steam Input (I have no option), since it is recognized as a 360 controller which has no paddles, even having Extended Feature Support installed and rebooted.
I know that I can configure paddles with just the controller, but I wish I could configure it via Steam Input as well as it would enable me to create more intricate setups.

There may exist a way to:
  • reconfigure paddles regardless of layout, or
  • change layout (to be recognized as a different controller, like an Elite controller, a Switch controller, a DualShock controller, whatever)

Any of these should make it possible to remap paddles, but I couldn't do any of them. Has anyone been able to do something like this? The controller model might not even matter that much, but I'm afraid changing this would require changing the drivers for the controller, which Steam uses to assign a layout.

From the documentation the back buttons (paddles) do not appear to be exposed to the host system and need to be programmed to be mapped to the other keys and/or macro/sequence on the controllers firmware.

Part 1: Connection

Press the A+Home switch (if you use an Android device)
Connect T4 pro with your phone via Bluetooth
Part 2: Triggered at the same time

Press any M button+Select to enable programming mode
Back light of right joystick will turns blue and red
Press two buttons you want to trigger at the same time for a while
Then release them
Press M button to confirm
Back light of right joystick turns blue means done
Now press M2 to trigger A+LT at the same time
Part 3: Triggered in sequence

Press any M button+Start to enable programming mode
Back light of right joystick will turns blue and red
Press one button first and then release
Press the next button and then release
Press M button to confirm
Back light of right joystick turns blue means done
Now press M2 to trigger A and LT in sequence

By default they are mapped to the A B X Y buttons as noted in the manual for the controller.

I suspect they indeed aren't exposed and should always be mapped to existing keys. This probably is the case.
