So... it doesn't affect a Gamer really.

Dual Boot with a Linux; use Win10 just for Windows OS games
Except that the overlay is constant...even in exclusive mode...if Windows isn't activated. If you use ShutUpWindows10 to remove the overlay, that's piracy.
No its not; you can actually turn all that stuff off via a few simple edits in the Registry
an App like ShutUp10 just makes it easier for users, and does everything correctly via GroupPolicy, allowing new users for example to make all these OS settings changes much more easily with very little understanding of how to do them, etc.

You still need a Win10 Product Key to use Windows Store; otherwise, nope

But sure, eventually I would go ahead and get one. Just ensure that when you install Win10 from the bootable ISO / usb flash drive that you instal the OS edition you wish to then purchase.

The reason I speak upon Win10 this way is just to help a new builder cut that cost out, for a time. Allowing their $ to solely go towards their hardware + peripherals. You can always purchase OS key later down the road.

if you have a w7 or w8 key install that and use the media creation tool to upgrade to windows 10 and you will have no watermark.
if you don't insist on a clean windows 10 install it is an option.

You can't use an older Windows Key anymore since 12th January '18 to activate Windows 10.

worked fine for me on a laptop I upgraded to w10 a week ago and done it a few times before that.
I am not talking about using the key on windows 10 I am talking about upgrading w7 or w8 with the media creation tool.
it won't ask for a key.

Of course it doesn't ask for any key, why would it. But does the Win10 activation complete and remain fully intact over time? Plus none of that helps new builders; since youd have to buy Win7 or 8.1; with 10 there isn't anything to buy, its optional.

You cannot use the current install on a new build if you upgraded for free from previous versions of Windows.

It requires the use of a single retail product key activation through a valid Microsoft Account to transfer the same key from one PC to your new one.
If you got Windows 10 upgrade for free when i came and when the pc started Windows 10 if you starteed up with Microsoft account if will link an unlimited use of Windows 10 Home to all pcs signed in with that microsoft account.

Using a workaround like altering the registry to get rid of the watermark, is also piracy.

IT IS NOT; its a simple work-around, just like any other OS related tweaks.
Piracy would be like doing some sort of work-around with regards to activating the OS in some sort of illegal manners; no one (at least not myself) is talking about or condoning such options here, as that would just be ridiculous to ever suggest.

I was not trying to help new builders I was giving an extra option for those who have keys for other windows version.

but why would it stop new builds?
install you old windows use the key you have and update it to windows 10 should not take longer than 30 or 40 minutes.
if you don't insist on a clean windows install it is an option.

nobody called me about a watermark yet

edit: today I discovered that on a clean windows 7 install when you upgrade to w10 it will ask for a product key.
after installing the first 202 w7 updates I tried again and it did not ask for the product key.

Yes I know. I dont understand if anyone has any arguments; the tech community handles PCs this way and there is not a single thing wrong about it. These are all legit manners of getting one's self onto Windows 10

I have a few questions about this...and I would prefer talking in private about it if that's ok.
