Can anyone tell me which one should i get?
I5 8400 or Ryzen 2600x? i still can't decide bcuz if i will go for 2600x i need x470 mobo so it will cost more. Yeah older mobo will be too but the vrm's of b350 is pretty weak and if i will go for x370 id rather go for x470 and the ram i need more frequecy so that i can use the full force of cpu. But in i5 8400 i can get cheap b360 and any ram will work. and also i have 8gb ram and gtx 1060 6gb
If you want it for gaming with GTX 1060 6 GB then i5-8400 is perfectly fine for that, basicly same performance as not overclocked i7-7700K.
Only thing to note is that I would not go for very cheapest motherboard with i5-8400 but something with 4 RAM slots like Gigabyte B360M or MSI B360M PRO-VDH,
Gigabyte B360M DS3H has also 4 RAM slots but it seems to be crappier quality then Gigabyte B360M.
both cpus will give you similar results while gaming. both take ddr4 ram. you can buy a b-series board with either.

you're overthinking this. whichever you decide to buy will be fine.
well i think i will go for i5 8400
ok thanks and i will change the title and description first lol

Ryzen 1st gen was 20%+ slower in single core performance than intel. And the new Ryzen+ is still 12.5% slower in single core. (According to Cinebench compute Tests).
But in real life, the "Resolution" and the "GPU" and the "Game itself" will play a role on How much difference you are actually going to see.

But if possible, go for i5 8600k and overclock it to 5 GHz. Then you will get something Lot faster than both 8400 and 2600X.
btw what cooler should i get for i5 8600k i want a budget cooler to oc 4.5 i guess or 5ghz i want super budget srsly

nahhi think i will just go for i5 8400 10 more frames is not worth to oc

so the fps will not decrease in gaming? or there are?

Ram speed is 3000mhz out of the gate for 2600/2700 and ya you'll need to update bios on the B350 so maybe wait a bit more until the dust settles or get the cheapest 470 board.

Are the B450 boards even out yet?
If on a budget, I would opt for a Ryzen system if you do anything outside of gaming. The socket will be supported longer, you'll have better multitasking/productivity compared to an Intel CPU that costs the same, it comes with a cooler, and in most games you will be GPU-bound anyway.

You will need fairly expensive X470 motherboard to run Ryzen 2600x at full speed.

Actually no you do not; something like MSI B350M Mortar runs them just fine.
X470 is just for new builds. As long as your older board has the latest bios update; u'll be fine.
And 2600X stomps an i5-8600K quite easily, well worth it.

But if you do not have any AM4 Motherboard at all yet, look at a higher end X370 or X470 Motherboard; for sure. Look at ASUS or MSI; all the others for AM4 are complete junk.

Get what you want or what is more cost effective, they will both run the same with a 1060. Ryzen will likely have longer AM4 support, AMD comes with better coolers and if you like to OC the ryzen will do that too. The 8400 will handle stronger GPU's and spit more FPS out with them above 100fps.
i have not seem a b450 board yet on Gigabyte xa370 you have to download bios ver f23d for the newer chips to work. The ram profiles are already updated running Crucial Elite 3200 easy clock takes it 3600 at 1.42 volts have not tried higher than that. Also i have not seen a way to flash bios with a usb stick. It is all new to me only been up and running about a week on 7 1700 will see what the chip can do with better cooling. At stock speed it is a slug seems to wake up after 3.5 or so. Half the fun is just playing with it. Best OC was 4.1 but it was getting hot, stable but hot. I didnt get the newer chip paid 213.00 for a tray processor and was given a Ryzen cooler and yes it sucked useing a very old am3 without pipes temps are 48.5 running all cores at 3700mhz.

but b450 isn't out yet and i will buy the parts on last week of april
I don't need to; I have them in-house right here in my hands....

With what GPU and games? I've been thinking of a mini ITX build for VR and everywhere I look with a 1080 ti intel is winning at lower resolutions\high refresh rate like the VIVE 's HMD.

So buy an X470 board. Gigabyte and Asrock make good value boards.
