About the Snowball iCE, I didn't heard about it before, but that doesn't mean anything.
Here is how ever a hefty price difference, pretty much the double (Yeti), after I looked the iCE up. This should be considered.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B5ZX9FM
Unlikely that someone has a random Scarlet at home for the cheaper version of it. The USB price is also speaking for itself. By that it became comparing a middle class into high class into top class (USB-Based only) Microphone. Price is speaking for itself.
If you must go the cheap route, just get a $20 lapel Mic.
Maybe you misread the fact, that he want it for gaming and occasional meetings.
In my knowledge the Yeti is over the $100 mark and I was never aware of any problems with it during any conversation. At this point, it's just another +$25+/- from the Blue Yeti (If he goes for the USB one, XLR will be way too expensive to setup if the gear is not available already). That headset Mics are bad is well known. Just a question how much more someone want to spend on a quality Microphone.
Out of own interest I checked the iCE myself now by watching few audio tests. It's not good, simply as that.
In my opinion the difference isn't that huge now from the Blue Yeti to the Audio-Technica AT2020USB when it comes down to casual stuff. It's not like he mentioned, that he requires it specific for more proffesional recording.
If that is worth the additional up price, is up to himself.
I own a $30 mic which has just as high quality audio as my friend with a Yeti and another with a ~120 XLR mic. (Almost perfectly matches my voice IRL.)
Plus, Discord, Teamspeak, Twitch, and YouTube, etc. are all going to be compressed, so high quality audio doesn't really mean much, the difference between 2 mics is going to be extremely minimal, so long as it's decent enough.
