How to install ONLY drivers via Windows 10 update?

As the title says, innocent question but with a very difficult answer, right?
Basicaly I ONLY want to install drivers via Windows update BUT in order to access "DRIVER UPDATES" from windows update, I have to hit "RESUME UPDATES" and if I do that, then boom all types of windows updates automaticaly starts to be downloaded (without even asking me if I want them) and right after download they're automatically installed. Updates for windows defender, intelligence update etc etc, and even a newer version of windows, all of which I DO NOT WANT to be installed.
Now, secondly, if I go to device manager and try to update the driver for each component (printer, gpu, etc etc) yet again, it sends me to the same menu where I have to choose resume updates.

So, again, how can I update ONLY my drivers via windows 10 update without being forced to install bunch of other crap that I do not need.

Nah, I was actually right. I've found a way to do this from a youtube video, indeed had to do something in gpedit.msc, besides some other stuff aswell, I knew it had something to do with that.

Too bad many people post unnecessary stuff without even knowing what they're talking about. I could've fixed this way sooner. Not to mention many try to give advice from what they encountered in the past and not for what usualy OP's are asking in the thread. Those security updates can mailfunction some machinery production softwares that I already have installed (tested it before), not to mention that they only work with certain version of windows as the manufacturer said.

but anyway I found the solution and downloaded only the drivers I wanted via windows update. everything is perfect now, thanks to me.

You are in the same situation if you disable updates in Windows 10; you are in an unsupported state and exploits won't be patched.

You don't need to mess with that because Windows Updates is not where to get drivers from. Getting drivers from there was meant for people using OEM prebuilds; like HP, Dell, Lenovo...

Why are people so lazy as to learn and do things the correct way. The way we as Windows OS users have always had to go about doing this when it comes to hardware drivers.

You want Windows Updates to fetch security and feature updates; nothing more.

Drivers are easy to check for and handle on your own.

Install and run SPECCY.
Once the system summary loads up, click FILE in upper left, PUBLISH > copy-to-clipboard. Then paste that web address into a post here to share system specs.

From this I can then link you to all your hardware drivers.

it's all or nothing.

microsoft is extremely touchy about updates. without certain programs you can't even fully disable automatic updates. it's actually super annoying.

thankfully there are programs to stop windows from taking a mind of it's own sometimes.

Windows update delivered drivers are normally the bare minimum and NOT the latest available driver. Windows update is not the best place to obtain drivers and it never has been.

I dont know where you got the idea that Windows Update will give you drivers for your products but you would be mistaken in doing so, only CERTAIN drivers can be found there.

Do yourself a favor and finish those security updates and manually get the drivers on your own, WU will likely not have ones you are looking for anyway.

Generally Windows updates for graphics are badly out of date. Other devices you may be able to get away with, but outdated graphics drivers will cause you all sorts of headaches if you play games.

I use wushowhide from Major Geeks to suppress any updates I don't want but you have to be pro-active and make sure the update you want to block is showing as ready to download in the Update queue.. Microsoft used to host this exe on its download site but has since dumped it as it wants to cram all the updates down our throats.

You can also use something like O&O Shutup 10 but this software can mess up your OS if you're doing this willy-nilly.

Any available driver updates are under "Optional Updates" in Settings App./Update and Security/ Windows Update/ "view optional updates"/ Driver updates.

Any driver I've grabbed from there has been capable and appropriate but like most everyone else, I prefer to get them from the various proprietary websites like ASUS, etc. because I can review what the driver is fixing or addressing. You don't get that explanation if you're using the Settings app

And to be fair, official driver updates typically come in exe format. To be safe, make sure to download drivers only from a trusted source, preferably the manufacturer.

Core isolation is problematic for a lot of people because of silent incompatibility. That's why it should be disabled by default. Another example of this is Zemana antimalware--it won't install its SDK if you have Core Isolation/Memory Integrity enabled. I guess it's a judgement call on the user's part.

It used to be much more commonplace for Windows to offer the wrong driver like via Device Manager. Nowadays it's gotten better, I guess, esp. since driver updates no longer go thru Device Manager.
